Surely any new hardware shows off graphics that previous hardware could not?

You don't make much sense. Basically you're a graphics whore who doesn't know what domestic means.

A new God of War would have been brilliant, especially if Ready at Dawn was behind the helm again, but from Sony's perspective it wouldn't sell as many as it's not as popular a franchise.

Not The Wii launch didn't do anything the Cube couldn't do, was not at all impressed with the Mega CD launch software and PS2 launch games looked no better than DC game, in fact most looked worse.
And I know exactly what domestic means and most Hardware console manufactures will always launch in their domestic market 1st, even if their biggest markets happen to be foreign.

Mega CD was an add-on, PS2 was NOT the successor of the DC, but the PS1. So erm, yer.

Anyway, it appears that the Vita has not struck gold with the early adopters whatever you happen to think.

I remember the JP DC launch being shocking. Games were pretty average apart from VF3 and that is the worst in the series. No RGB cables for weeks so games had to be played in composite. Then a rushed Sega Rally managed to disappoint also.

You simply cannot judge a console by the launch software......use the ps2 as a lone example.

Hell yeah. The PS2, while not being the worst launch ever is a console that did not look too hot on day one.

I think the launch lineup is pretty good.

Uncharted, Ridge, Everybody's Golf, WipEout, Ultimate MvC3.

                  Rinsed my wallet anyway.

Yup, same here man. Were clearly on a different planet to everyone else...

Launch line up for consoles in general have never been great, I would say Vita has among the best launch line ups ever...

but as I say good ol' ted and I are clearly living in a different universe.

I've been an early adopter of import hardware my entire career. Ridge is Ridge, so I'm happy to be drip fed the game in it's entirety. Let's face it, no Sony launch is real unless you can play Ridge Racer. Just saying that I would have been disappointed had I paid ?400+. Nothing has actually wowed me thus far. There's nowt "new".

I'll say one thing, the vita launch lineup is poor (for my gaming choices) but even in those games theres still at least one i'd get (Katamari). In the 3DS launch there was literally nothing at all that appealed to me, it took months till something came along. It really needs to show games that can't be done on a PS3, that means ones that use both touch screens at once, scaling down fancy graphic games to a handheld won't do ****, it never helped much with psp. This time they have a chance but they will probably stuff it up.

Sony are going to struggle with this thing taking off & it has everything to do with pricing, we no longer live in an economy where vast numbers will cough up for something like this, they certainly didn't cough up for 3DS till nintendo slashed the price drastically, plus sony's idiotic idea to make cart based games need a memory card & an expensive one at that, least the 3DS they gave you a memory card free. Last time i saw a stupid practice of needing memory cards for cart games was back on the first gen of N64.

Will be interesting to see how this pans out.

I would have loved one had a pre order until pretty much the last minute until when thinking about it if I wait for uk launch I can get all the games I wanted and the memory card for less than what the import was going to be (?396 for the 3G version couldn't find a wifi)

I wanted to ask actually, I've never played ANY everbody's golf games. I adore football but not too interested in golf and I didnt enjoy golf on Wii Sports.

is it with trying this one?

Mingol is massive fun. It's easy to play, so you should be fine with it.

everybody's golf is the reason i'm getting a vita.

infact, depending if the online is split in two between us/uk and japan (like on the ps3), i might end up buying it twice (like on the ps3). download the japanese version which is sure to have a longer/bigger player base, and buy the uk cart to play online a bit and then trade it in when everyone gives up.
