Their statement just reads like what I'd expect them to say when faced with the question of region locking despite companies like Sony and MS(and Nintendo themselves, pre-DSi) having shown that region-free gaming doesn't really cause any issues.

Rage. Having three iterations of the DS is enough to warn me away from buying on launch but I will not be buying multiple regional variants per hardware revision because Nintendo arbitrarily decided to ruin one of the great features of their handhelds.
