I'm not so much talking about HOW they play, but how appealing they are to the Street Fighter fan, in this case- me. Side note- I love fighting games, but I am no hot shot. I'd class myself as average at SF & VF (my two favs) on a good day.

Anyway- SFII had a classic line up of characters. They became classic because each character is totally different in looks & fighting style & well, character. Each one really stood out.

By contrast with SFIII the line up was pretty bizarre because they used Ken/Ryu/Akuma who all play virtually the same and then the rest of em were all new. Not only were 90% of the characters new, but none of these new characters stood out or had any where near the charm of SFII roster in terms of visual design and fighting style.

Then by recognizing this, in SFIV Capcom went in the total opposite direction using all of the SFII characters and four crappy new ones. Imo this was almost just as stupid because it ignored SFIII?s line up (which featured a few good characters) and meant SFIV wound up feeling like a remake of SFII.

I'm not talking about how SFIII or SFIV play, obviously both games are fuggin great.

What they need to do in SFIV, is present a good mix of characters from -ALL- of the previous games in the series. So we get a balanced selection that pays attention to fan favorites as well as the vast wealth of cool characters that have appeared in the series.

I'm much more interested in SSFIV than I was in SFIV, for the simple reason that it seems more like a real sequel since it includes characters from SF & SFIII.

You've obviously no clue about SF3 if you think the shotos (ryu, ken, akuma and sean) play virutally the same. They are vastly different characters in play and all require different playing styles. Seriously, look into things before you make these totally unfounded comments.

And he forgot Chun, who plays completely different to in any other SF.

One time when I was playing online 3rd Strike I pretty much played out that 2nd round. A couple of slight variances but I still wiped the guy out from perfect in one flurry. I can still remember it to this day, and I played 1000s of online matches.

The guy left the game after I did it LOL!

One thing I've always wanted to see in the Street Fighter 2 cast in the 3rd Strike engine, as I couldn't get into the SF3 characters at first. Now I'd love to see the SF4 cast in the 3rd Strike engine

Most good Makoto players seem to follow that formula, I'm trying to learn her at the moment I guess but I can't get the timing down at the moment.

              One up you again:

              Just joshing

I think we'll get the 3rd iteration of Street Fighter IV first before Street Fighter V comes. But if it does come sooner than expected, 2D all the way and even prettier than SFIII was in its time.

Oh, and Q comes back please (with the Inspector Gadget theme tune) like this:

I don't want to think about it as I got new SSFIV to look forward.

But how about an option to switch off fireball to spice up fighting.

How about SF V SNK V Sega V Namco in all in one fighting game.

I'd like to see a 3D arcade adventure whereby you roam around mundane locales fighting identikit henchment but occassionally meeting another character in a boss fight.

You can call it SF Legends.

I knew someone would say that about my comment on how Ken/Ryu/Akuma play. I don't need to look anything up because I have been playing SFIII for over 10 years. But that facts are from a visual & Special moves pov Ken/Ryu/Akuma are very similar.

Thats indeed what they've done with ssf4.
                      I meant to say SFV.

And they have only just presented a good mix in SSFIV.

Certinaly, Makoto and Dudley and also Q are really fun to play.

Of course, I get a massive hard on for 3s - but it's hard not to.

                        So much fun.
Like I said there are some good characters in SFIII (my fav is Dudley), but in terms of their visual design and charisma, as a whole the SFIII roster does not compare to the SFII roster.

Thats probably just because you're more used to the established SF2 lineup.

An indian man who can stretch his arms? A green monster that can produce electricity?

Equally as dumb if you ask me.

Nope, it's because SFII's characters are all interesting and stand out from each other. SFIII's do not.

What is 'dumb' in videogames...probably 90% of all games.
We are dealing with fantasy here after all.
Dhalsim & Blanca - not dumb, but inspired.

Dudley is an amazing character design, perhaps one of my favourite ever, balrog/m.bison/boxer in SF2 was just a rip off of Mike Tyson, completely uninspired.

Theres a lot of designs I'm not too fond of in SF3, but there also is in SF2. A generic sumo wrestler, wow!

As much as I like zangief, hugo is a far more interesting 'character' too.

Surely SF3's designs 'stand out from each other' more so than anything? They all play and look totally different. Sure theres four shotos but they are quite different too, and it wouldn't be SF without shotos.

I love Dudley too (in a non gay way) and think he is as good as any SFII character in terms of visual design & charisma.

But in terms of visual design & charisma I think Dudley is one of the few in SFIII who are as good as SFII's characters imo.
