Played through the single player in coop split screen just now and had an awesome time.

launching a joint assault with jet packs flying in at two different positions being a particular highlight

But has it got online coop, this would seal the deal for sure on a new ps3.

      No, just offline co-op.

Better than no coop at all though at least.

Just incase no one knows or it hasn't been mentioned already there is a Killzone 3 LTD Edition controller pack coming out on launch.
It include a Limited Edition Jungle DualShock 3 and Killzone 3 (cheapest is £59.85 from Zavvi/The Hut and don't forget Quidco!)

That aint bad at all consider DS3's are about £35 new and it's a Limited Edition pad.

The demo has to be one of the most played demos that I've ever tried.

I've no idea how many times I've completed it now using both control methods but it's been brilliant each time. I'm really impressed with how natural the Move controls feel, the controls are at least as good as any console shooter I've played before and the demo has really sold motion controls as a valid control method to me.

It really is a shame that there aren't more shooters that currently support the controls as I'd happily re-buy some older games. I know SOCOM uses them and Insomniac recently said they were investigating the use of them for Resistance 3 but of course there isn't any guarantee that they will work well just because Guerrilla have mastered them.

It's a decent sized demo and I like that you can really explore different ways of reaching your goals and each way you try changes the gameplay a little due to way that you approach the enemies.

I'm loving the audio in the demo too and I'm really pleased that they haven't messed around with the weight of the controls even though the lag feels lower.

Just as it is in the other three Killzone games, they've placed it in just the right position somewhere between pure science fiction Halo type shooters and the much more grounded although still completely ridiculous Call of Duty type shooters.

Luckily they've not bothered with attempting to make weapons feel realistic in anything apart from the game world that they exist in but they've also managed to avoid them all being daft laser type weapons.

The weapons still have attributes which don't really make any sense in the real world such as holographic sites on long range weapons even though the technology is only really useful on shorter range weapons. They do it and I suppose other games do it as it's bloody good fun to shoot somebody's face off from a mile away without needing to change to a long range weapon.

There's been complaints about the story telling a few publication but in the demo they're spot on, there's a few very brief videos introducing scenes or telling you what you need to do but they seem to accomplish what they need to do. I imagine there are much longer scenes in the full game but in the demo they're well worth watching and they also mean that you don't have to watch a bar fill up on a loading screen.

When it comes to the story telling in the demo I only have one complaint about them and it's a very minor thing, I think there was some attempted humour on the [after removing the jet pack]

            tidal wave section

and the scene certainly had potential for it but they just seemed to have miss it.

Again, a very small thing but I think things like that can make a difference.

I don't really have anything to say about the graphics as it's a first party game so its expected that they will stand out against other games out there. You're really better off playing the game and experiencing them like that rather than just watching them or reading about them.

Only a week to go now, can't wait!

                    the demo has a story?

well, at least it shows the Helghast are a bunch of pussies which make use of their deadly looks to bluff the enemies. and the ISA are the most unsympathetic heroes besides Bratt Pitt's Inglorious Basterds.

unfortunately i found Guerilla didn't fix any of the issues present in the gamescom build. most annoying is the strange low first person view making you feel like a Hobbit with a gun.

The story telling, the method of moving you on to the next scene in the demo was what I mentioned. In the demo it tells you where to go and what to shoot and that's everything that is needed in a game of this kind.

Although you can't really judge it from such a short section as the demo, the overarching story will more than likely be terrible as it's a game and games are almost universally at the bottom of the pile when it comes to character development and plot progression in comparison to the more mature media.

I know the total length of cutscenes in the game is fairly high but hopefully it won't move too far away from the storytelling methods in the demo and we'll end up primarily with shorter cutscenes which move you on to the next area and mean we avoid a loading screen.

If the story telling in the game does that then it's done everything that is required of it irrelevant of the fact that there's been no attempt to move gaming narrative on. It's unlikely that it will be remembered for its narrative methods once the closing titles have run but if that's what people are looking for then they should really be looking elsewhere.

Digital Foundry have a four page analysis up examining the technical changes between Killzone 2 and Killzone 3, the 3D mode, the split screen mode, controller latency, etc.

Surprised to see this is also out in Japan next week - I was expecting a delay of several months like last time.

That makes it my easiest option to buy, but I went with the UK version of KZ2 so I was wondering if there was likely to be any DLC crossover or anything? I have the three map packs for KZ2 but I presume that if they are included in KZ3 they will be have to be purchased again anyway.

Also, anyone with the Japanese KZ2 (so umm... Joe then) how was the language support? Full english?

I should finish KZ2 I reckon before reading up on this. Looks mint though!
