I'm hoping it still works if you've left your xbox turned on or even better if you can "preorder" demos and stuff that aren't out yet.

Not sure how it'll work though.

That downoad queue actually sounds pretty handy. I often read about the latest demos etc being released while i'm at work.
It would be good to just simply press the power button when I get it and let it download without having to use the pad to navigate round the marketplace.
On the subject of Hard Drives. I did the workaround using the cheap 120GB western digital HD. Very straight forward. Fingers crossed MS don't starting banning folk for that!

A trusted source working as a customer service rep for Microsoft has revealed that there will be some bad drama when the Xbox 360's Fall update hits on November 19th. He says the update could bring the dreaded "three red lights of death" issue roaring back to life.
The rep said that there has always been an influx of calls from owners of bricked Xbox 360s after every major Xbox 360 software update. Most of the complaints come from owners of launch consoles.
"The slick move by Microsoft here is that it's releasing the update on the 19th, just a couple of days after the extended warranty period for launch Xbox 360s end. The owners of these units are headed for some pretty tense times in the weeks to come,"" he said.
Cheeky bastards!Could just be a coincidence/probably tabloid dramatisation. Also doesn't make much sense given the cause of 3RL.

Launch was Nov 22nd in the US wasn't it? TBH that reasoning wouldn't surprise me, it's the usual thing to expect from companies.
Can anyone tell me, with the NXE can you set the HDMI to not output sound? It's mildly irritating having to turn down the TV sound as I'm also going optical to the amp.

Looks fake and site has no credit behind it. I'm pretty sure what they're saying is wrong anyway. If my understanding of the 3 year extended warranty period is correct, it applies from when the console was purchased as opposed to when Microsoft announced it. Even then it would be wrong because it was announed in 2006, I think. The quote they have is just too good, would a rep REALLY say that Microsoft are performing a "slick move" by screwing over their userbase?
Also, Microsoft have gone to decent lengths to avoid consoles bricking. The reason why you have to have a memory unit where the OS information is stored. So if the installation messes up the OS information will not be lost.

Saying that though, how many launch machines are actually in tact?
Saying all this though, has anyone heard anything from people with the NXE about RROD? Usually when an update hits you get floods of them but I've heard nothing. And it's only the most vocal of geeks that have the update at the moment so you would expect outcry already. All seems fine to me.
