Delete the stuff you don't play anymore. You can always redownload it if you fancy another go.

In my case this isn't an option. It takes a lifetime to download them in the first place thanks to my wienerband. Once I've got anything downloaded on my console I have to hoard it like Scrooge McDuck.

That shouldn't be the only option.

No, but then I'd argue that if you have 2 consoles and only one is connected to live, you shouldn't have to spend a fortune buying a wireless adapter just so you can play content you have PAID FOR offline on another box.

MS is all about "my way or the highway".

Didn't say it should be. Was only offering a suggestion...

I hardly every use the front end. I jump straight to the guide, which has everything I need in a convenient, well organised manner. I cannot get on with the NXE at all, just looking for friends online is a chore - looks pretty, but poor functionality.

I'd be happy for an option to boot straight into the Guide, would probably save a few seconds at boot up as well.

Is there something with the dash going on behind the scenes or what? Not sure... but every game I've fired up today has asked for an update...

You've probably cleared your cache somehow

Or conversley perhaps you need to clear it.

I had that thing where it wouldn't remember any updates at all and clearing the cache stopped it.

I actually heard that it costs 1200 points to clear the cache

I'm sure I heard that it only stores five updates at a time, and the oldest ones are wiped when the space is needed. So if you've been playing some games you haven't played for a while, that'd do it.

The new dash is slick. Hope it's faster than the current interface too, feels sluggish compared to XMB.

Most user interfaces would feel slggish compared to the XMB, because when your at the dash' (not in-game) the XMB runs at 1080p with only a 50ms response time from controller to screen. The best 60FPS games like COD can only manage around 66ms at best.

I still cannot believe how uninspired the new dashboard is, its basically the same as the current one with anything interesting stripped from it. Also I cannot believe how hideous they have made the separate alphabet letters look.

Ironically MS where saying how the Android interface was terrible in an article recently. And how they had made some strong interface decisions and where singing their own praises. If they think this is good they need their heads checking.

The xbox team should look at the work done at the wm7 interface, clean, easy to read and provides you all the information you need quickly, or the xbm. They work because there simple.

With the xbm, the simplicity has been kept consistent all the way through its lifespan, just with extra sections (icons) added as and when needed. A games console doesn't need anything more in my opinion.
