Lol yeah i thought i was having a sonic hallucination. I love the music, the sound effects take me back too. Just scared to get excited over it though. Sega has the reverse midas touch for most things nowdays.

I'm curious as to which dev team this is from. If it's the Colours team then there really is hope.

Does anyone know how the physics handle yet?

Never forget how they screwed up Sonic 4:

Although this game looks epic, from the videos i reckon its the same as sonic 4.

From the video, it does look much much closer to Sonic 1-3 physics.

The jumping, the bouncing off of enemies are both inline with it. There's no evidence of the impossible/stupid Sonic DS/4 physics where sonic has glue on his feet and is able to walk up a vertical slope (it has Sonic running upside down but only in a way that happened in 2 and 3).

It's also reasonable to think that this old sonic vs new sonic is primarily a result of fan feedback and that they'd pay attention to producing more convincing physics.

Well I quoted IGN whom said it was more akin to Sonic 1-3, But I do think all the negativity behind the physics was absurd. Sure it was different, but fun none-the-less.

Sega are going to be shooting themselves in the foot if they don't get the physics right for anal fans.

I believe that there's basically two groups in Sonic Team- the core guys and the "Storybook" team who were developing the Wii-only titles. The core team's last game was Sonic Unleashed, which is the point at which the franchise got back on track in terms of quality. The Storybook team then released Sonic & the Black Knight for the Wii, which was so diabolically poor that it undid all of that good work. The Storybook team were then given the Wii's Unleashed code and told "imitate this". The result was Sonic Colours, which was basically Unleashed without the Werehog sections.

The core team haven't made anything since Unleashed (Sonic 4 was done by Dimps, the third party who have been making 2D Sonics since the GBA), so this is presumably what they've been working on.

Gladly :P. There is only 1 Sonic Team (insert joke comment here) . All the different arms of the Sonic Team have been merged in to 1 team (though ST have like 3 production lines ) and the PSO team separated from the group , souly to work on that IP
Sonic 4 was designed and developed by Sonic Team, just the programming duties handed out to DIMPS (just like Capcom and Dimps with SF IV) . I think I said over a year ago that Sonic Team will surprise many with their new strategies. I just wish the same could be said about Nagoshi team

So you said over 1 year ago Sonic Team will surpise with their new strategy.
Is that new strategy to make a decent game this year, which will be the surprise?

It looks visually fantastic and exciting but the whole games just seems on rails and very limited. It is far to fast and flashy for its own good.
