Including the gunplay wasn't in itself a bad idea, I just feel it contradicted much of the game.
The heart and soul of the game was the freerunning, running across buildings so naturally and carefree, yet with such careful skill and timing. It felt peaceful and leisurely, yet challenging and engaging. The gunplay seemed to awkwardly get in the way of this, especially because there were many situations where you could not choose to be a 'runner' and avoid conflict. If they're going to include gunplay (which I'm not necessarily against), then it needs to be executed in a manner that encourages you to be the runner that you're supposed to be, the gunplay something with genuine risk. You're not supposed to be a killing machine, you're supposed to be a runner.
