The first game they want? MONSTER HUNTER! Love it! AND the 3DS region locking issue! Haha! "I bought Project Cross Zone but I can't play it!" lol

It'll be fun I'm sure but not really something I'll be playing any time soon. I'm definitely thinking Tank! Tank! Tank! now, which oddly doesn't have a J-release penciled in yet.

No not really considering its the only game of interest and therefore it has/had the job of selling the Wii U hardware as well. The 4.5 review may not be reflective of the average score in the end but it does reveal that the game is not a system seller - which is what I personally needed it to be to justify the pre-order of the hardware. As some one who jumped into bed with the Vita at launch not long ago, I'm not prepared to buy a new console on the basis that there might be games worth playing 1 - 2 years down the line (when the real next-gen is launching no less).

MH3U is out in March. I would hardly call that 1-2 years.

So Walmart open at 7am tomorrow...I may have to convince my boss to drive me down there after work.

You cannot possibly make the above statement seeing as the console hasn't even been released yet. Or you can, but it makes you look silly because it's factually incorrect. There are already games like Bayonetta 2 and Lego City Undercover coming as exclusives. Besides, the first party Nintendo games alone make it far better than Vita.

Didn't MH3 come out like years ago? Just asking

Yeah it came out over three years ago, and it was **** then.

                      Noobish, check yourself.

MHTri came out in August 2009 originally, yes. MH3U is an HD update of the 3DS game released in 2011, which itself was a massively expanded update to MHTri.

MHTri -> MH3G was an increase in game content of >100%

And how long will it take the 'real' next gen to get games worth playing? Forever if the Vita's anything to go by.

The promising thing for me with Wii U is at least over the next 3/4 months there is some decent stuff on the horizon. There is Pikmin 3, Aliens Colonial Marines, Monster Hunter 3 and whether its any good or not Lego City Story's. That lot for me is pretty good when you consider how long were left waiting for decent games with a new console launch.

No matter what your opinion on Wii U for me im glad Nintendo have decided to do something completely different and innovative to other consoles. Nintendo could not release a mega powerful system like Sony/MS there is no way the console market can sustain 3 all powerful consoles all doing pretty much the same thing, so it had to be different.

I would certainly suggest that it will be up to Nintendo to produce a system seller for the hardware, and in the short term we won't get that. The format does seem to be receiving enthusiastic third party support, but no sensible developer would develop a major game for the WiiU at this point without also releasing a version for the other major formats. That will leave the WiiU with a major lack of system sellers until the major Nintendo software appears. I know a fair few people holding fire on buying Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed (for example) just so they have something to play on their WiiU in the short term. Not an idea situation.

When the decent first party games begin to appear though, sign me up.

I don't think the Vita situation is really comparable. One of the key issues with the Vita in terms of software is lacking incentive for people to buy the Vita version of a game over the console version, especially when the price points have become pretty much the same.

Third party support will be determined by how well the Wii U sells over the next few months. If it does indeed sell well then im pretty sure most third party games that are developed for Xbox/PS3 over the coming months will also come to Wii U. However good or bad some of its games are it would appear that Ubisoft are supporting Wii U pretty well. At the end of the day if there is an installed user base of a few million no publisher is just going to ignore that market, especially as Wii U is at a minimum as powerful as Xbox/PS3.

This is my point though. It means that no third party game will be able to be regarded as a system seller, because these same games will also be available for other formats. It will be entirely down to Nintendo to develop the system sellers.
