You is the point your personal experience is not everyone else's and your tastes are not everyone else's, i really hate this "i dont play this sort of game bull****" especially when you use monster hunter in every bloody analogy, a game that's barely changed since the first ps2 game "better graphics same mechanics" all i will say about monster hunter is at least they dont make you carry eggs about anymore.

but my point is you haven't played it how do you know if the clan side of things will be good or not your basing your opinion off of what then a crystal ball? magic cards? or like i suggested that you don't like anything that isn't monster hunter at the moment.

Well i have been playing this for 2 hours now and i have to say its just fantastic. I haven't even done any missions yet, just been driving around Los Santos to try and get my bearings. The attention to detail is just incredible, just about every building is completely different from an other, hardly any cut and paste. The car damage model is brilliant, i love the fact that damage actually affects how the cars handle to the point you can completely twist the wheels so you cannot steer. Its just overwhelming just how big the game world is. There is some slowdown in the busy parts of the city, in particular at night but doesn't make it anywhere near unplayable. Need a break for lunch then back to doing some missions.

Let me just stop you a second there Forrest. At no point in this thread have I ever commented on whether or not the game (GTA V) is good or bad. For one I haven't played it, so how could I pass judgement? And B) I don't share the same gaming tastes as Chris does. I merely suggested that Chris shouldn't buy GTA V based on the notion that he is going to get into a clan, as Chris is not that sort of gamer. This much I do know. See below for a quote of what I said in the post previous to this.

See, no mention of it being good or bad.

So (third time's a charm), I am basing my opinion off of the fact that I know that Chris doesn't play games in that way. It was merely a friendly suggestion to a friend, that he would perhaps be wasting his money by purchasing GTA V with the intention of playing it as a clan-based pastime.

I also do like other games outside of Monster Hunter at the moment. Namely Luigi's Mansion 2, Mario Kart 7, New Style Boutique, Ridge Racer 3D and Star Fox 64 3D. All of which I have recenlty posted about, and if you were paying as much attention as you imply, you would know about.

@GluedOn & MonkeyJ: messing around in a huge and varied gameworld is no fun? So, what is fun?

The GTA story is, well in Vice City and it looks well written in this one too. I would be sat there thinking what the hell am I doing if all I was doing in a game like that was driving around aimlessly. I don't generally like sandbox games however as I think a lot of it makes you waste time in a sense more so.

Not saying this is a bad thing just going back to the original point of it is hard to see what all of the fuss is about when you don't get into it. It's not limited to GTA just more apparent as everybody seems to go crazy over it and like MonkeyJuggle said a lot of people do tend to play the game like a sandbox and not just the online and story modes. It's like asking someone if they think base jumping is fun, some people will say yes and others will think you're crazy.

I am going to be enjoying Wind Waker for example while people play GTA, I view that as being fun. Think when I was a teenager GTA would have been fun then but now not so much.

There're two discs, "Install" and "Play". You have to install the first one, but you should not install the "Play" disc, that's what causes the problems.

As mentioned earlier in the thread, I was getting bad stuttering when playing from the disc, along with textures loading slowly and bad pop up.

But, as suggested earlier, I've now installed the 2nd disc to my USB drive (and the main game to my HDD), and it is a LOT better. So I'd suggest to anyone, install the 2nd disc to a USB drive if you have one.

Chris?, let me just check my crystal ball. In all honesty, I think a lot of people would like it if they could get past the girliness of it. It's a very good micro-management sim, masked with the notion of selling women's (and later men's) clothes and accessories. However, I guess you GTA guys with your preference for beating up and running over innocent bystanders in the middle of the street in broad daylight continuously for eight hundred and four missions probably wouldn't go for it, but as you say not everybody shares the same tastes.

I will probably give GTA V a try out over the weekend. No doubt the boy has managed to ilegally purchase a copy of it by conning his Nan into it by saying he has to get it for me or something. It's really not my kind of game, but I can appreciate why pretty much everybody who grew up in the 32-bit era likes it. Not so much why everybody who had an Mega Drive does, but whatevs.

This is just as pointlessly reductive as saying New Style Boutique is a silly dress up game for little girls where you pick your favourite colours.

Personally I like both. GTA always brings out the haters - oh, it's a violent power fantasy with no value beyond a masturbatory bystander killing simulation, it's for pikies who love committing real life crimes, blah blah. When actually, it's a game that operates on lots of levels, with satirical humour, engaging writing and inventive gameplay.

To each his own but no one ****s up the threads for stuff like Mako Mako Witch Hunter (or whatever) or Conception 2 calling everyone in the thread a bunch of weirdos who can't even understand the games they're playing. And I'm really glad that doesn't happen would be good if the same courtesy was shown to the people that enjoy GTA (often the exact same people, this ain't a big forum, and god knows I'm more of a Japanese game player).

Probably not, but he's finished every single one of them since GTA III, and he's yet to shoot up his school with an Intratec TEC-9. He's probably at competition-level at COD too. He's always said to me that he enjoys them as games, not because of the adult content included. I only see him once a month, so I've given up on chastising him for his grown-up hobbies. He can 1CC Metal Slug 3 though, so that's alright.
