    Turkey of the year

Per request of Stroppa and to compliment Ady's "game of the year" topic.

Only one i can think of at the moment is Devil May Cry 2.

The first one had intensity (especially on Dante must Die mode) and great/stylish gameplay.
Yet DMC2 seemed to go backwards in regards to difficulty. It was still hard in Dante Must Die/Lucia Must Die. But nothing like the original game difficulty setting. The locales were less claustrophobic, plus the enemy variation was dissappointing. With at least 5 different types of monkey - yes they are comical, but seriously...

Enemy AI was a dissappointing as well, since you could just sit back and just pummel away with Ebony & Ivory. They never made a concious effort to try and surround you, so you never had to make very drastic maneuvers to escape.
End bosses AI were bad as well. Especially on DMD mode with the last boss 1st form, where you could just sit in one spot and constantly hammer away with the rocket launcher.

The less said about Lucia's underwater boss in LMD mode the better ...

Gone was the ability to buy skills. So somewhere between the line, Dante lost his ability with the Ifrit gloves & Alastor sword...

    Dino Crisis 3.

Not only is it the worst game of the year, it is one of the worst games ever made. The only thing the game has going for it is prerendered and non-interactive.

    Nice one...

I have never been so sure of one of my review scores. DC3 is through and through a 2/10 game. Dreadful.

Not sure if Turkey is the right word for this, but my biggest dissapointment was Suikoden 3. I loved the first two games to bits, and the third game was the sole reason I started importing PS2 games, but try as I might I just could not get into the game. I found the whole thing dull.

I got 15 hours into it and gave up. I intend to try it again one day, but it really dissapointed me

But seriously, my game TOTY would have to be Fifa 2004 IMO

Devil May Cry 2 is a pretty good choice, although its was clear from the excessive hype that the game was a turd.

in terms of sales PN.03.. This was supposed to be the next resident evil, with vanessa becomming the next lara croft style icon... instead it got bad reviews and sunk without a trace even compared to other gamecube titles shame coz i really liked it ..

Primal wasnt half as good as it was suppsed to be, Tomb Raider got a lot of critism yet sold stupidly well, Billy Hatcher was supposed to sell, Bloodrayne, Mace Griffin, Firewarrior, Judge Dredd.. there have been a lot this year.. not sure which is worst..

A bit of a foregone conclusion really, isn't it? Or was I the only one who actually bought Enter The Matrix?

I think we were all hoping to forget it had ever existed. Still, it wins this competition easily.

WTF? The next RE? Since when?

Anyway, I'd have to go for Primal. That was shocking. I still shudder as I recall the way the bad rock music just suddenly kicked in when baddies appeared. It's as if interactive audio had never been invented.

Worst of all, I know someone who actually liked that game.

Rayman, nasty voice acting and unispired levels, so dissapointing after the fantastic DC Rayman.

Yes. DMC2 get's my vote as **** OF THE YEAR.

A truly heartbreaking sequel to one of the coolest games ever. Crap locations, boring baddies, stultifying Dante, weak Lucia, naff weapon system, illogical and abysmal "plot", yadda yadda yadda...........

I'm going to hell for this one, but Metroid Prime. I'm not kidding.

Or, if that last sentence is just too much for you to take, then just pretend I said "Shenmue II".

I don't tend to buy turkeys, so I can't really criticise games that I haven't played.

Totally agree with enter the matrix. Just when you thought things couldnt get worse you get to the 'driving' sections. Ive never played something as awful as that in a good long while.
I think the real killer with that one is when you blow a car up, it slows down and goes off screen, then a few seconds later it catches you up

I didnt enjoy Metroid Prime one bit either, however I would never put it as the turkey of the year because technically there was nothing wrong with it, I just didnt enjoy it.

I could see there was a lot of atmosphere, and I could understand why other people would enjoy it, it just wasnt my cup of tea.

Panzer Dragoon Orta on the other hand I bought this year and didnt enjoy at all. I usually enjoy on rails shooters, with Rez and particuarly Sin & Punishment two of my favourite games. But PDO was just so slow, and so disjointed with the cut scenes I could never be bothered to watch, and thus constant loading scenes as I skipped the cut scenes. I guess I shouldnt have bought S&P just before it...

                            The graphics were great though...

I agree with PDO... Didn't enjoy it at all for very similar reasons... I don't know whether it qualifies as a Turkey because of that though.
