Boris' preference for resolution over framerate is an interesting one. He makes a good point. I wonder if 1080 at 30fps was an option for xbox one? I imagine they went with whatever they thought looks best anyway.

I think this is an example of a game where given the choice of one or the other that's what I would prefer, especially given the pace the game has traditionally been.
I wonder if this comes back the the esram size again, is it harder to do the increased resolution than the increased frame rate with the setup they have?

I want both It's so early on in the consoles life cycle that I imagine later down the line that this will happen.

But in saying this as long as the games look good and play good I'm not bothered. I would be playing PC games if I wanted better looking games. (Not that this is that much of a gap anymore if any)

The cutscenes are cinematic, the gameplay is not. 60fps will benefit this.

Yeah completely agree. I always used to buy a game based on how much I thought I'd enjoy it.

Reading a certain American forum you'd think gamers these days need an arbitrary set resolution before anything is worth bothering with.

Oh and lolita the PS3 was rubbish

MGS4 still looks awesome. Isn't 2007 anymore either, PS3 has some nice games.

I'm just going to say it, the revelation with the comparisons isn't that the PS4 version is a bit better than the XBO version, it's just how damned good the current gen versions look next to the grunt editions. Hats off to Kojima.

The ps4 gpu does seem to be rather good. Kojima says they had room to spare with fox engine at 1080p/60 yet could only do 720p on xbox one. I'm happy with an estimate of 50% better I think.

You also have to factor in that the other console is a non competitor in his home country if it where me i would also be an avid supporter of the company that directly feeds into my country's economy.

Would be nice for the xbox if that were the case...but alas.

Xbox is still a massive brand in the US particularly, and intentionally biting the hand that feeds, especially in the current climate of gaming...is, to say the least, unlikely.

I'm pretty sure Ground Zeroes will end up in the Phantom Pain too, but it'll be a nice fix given the game wont be out till next year or later...

Don't worry Tickle, we only have another 5 - 7 years of it ahead.

The impressions have gotten me excited. The bitching and moaning over duration (on the wider web of gamers, not here) is what's narking me off. I hate the way gamers see length as this crucial metric of a game's quality. As if you'd go and see a film and when asked how good it was you'd say 'it was brilliant - it was over 3 hours long!'. It's stupid and it's counter productive for game design.

I'll take 2 excellent hours over 50 boring ones. Any day of the week. And ?20, really, is not that much. What can you do for that? Go have a meal for one at a restaurant (no wine), see one movie at the cinema and eat some popcorn, buy one new release Bluray. Hardly better value than this game, which from the sound of it contains many more than 2 hours of gameplay if you want to see everything.

This. I'm finding quite a few.games drag things out today. I rarely complete a modern game more than once.

I was a bit worried about missing out but, while those current-gen shots are lovely, I had to keep flicking between them and the last-gen ones to pick out things. I'm not saying they're identical at all, nor am I slating the current-gen versions, but the differences don't have me clawing for a PS4. Mostly better textures and things like that. I can't wait!
