It's worrying because E3 might be too late for Nintendo to try and build up momentum with some games - the hype train for the next Sony and Microsoft consoles will be in full swing.

I've been burnt so many times by selling a system that had nothing I was interested in during the short term that mine's going nowhere even though it's not getting much use at the moment. With just over 3 months till E3 they'll hang everything on announcements from there. I'm not expecting a formal price cut anytime soon so there's no point getting rid the system only 10 weeks into its life. The key distinction is knowing the key games will come as opposed to the Vita where they never did and look to still not be near

Its really just like 3ds, although the handheld seems more like the kiddies choice at christmas...so it can bank more on that kind of trade.
However i see the same thing happening with WiiU despite this... zelda ww hits(most WiiU owners probably never played it or perhaps even heard of it), a whole bundle of systems sell...and they will no doubt expertly time a tasty price drop around the same time.
I dont think there is any risk of actual failure in the long run.

The WiiU situation is massively reminiscent of the 3DS's first year which is why the planned reveal of a new Mario, Mario Kart and Smash Bros isn't surprising. Those series are bigger than anything MS or Sony have in their portfolio and having all 3 at E3, or even fairly close to finished would mitigate any impact the next gen would have on WiiU. Of course, if they're nowhere near ready...

i personally thought it was a pretty poor launch considering how many franchises they have access to i would have sold my kidney if it launched with metroid/star fox/3d mario/zelda etc
Now i like 2d mario's but there is no way i would buy a home console for it (and while it has lots of multiformat games i think it would be pointless since i can get those games on my xbox/ps3 and pc)
Got to say on all internet sites and forums everyone knows what is needed for a good launch.....system exclusive AAA games, decent price good hardware, and everything needed out of the box but it really bugs me why the companies themselves dont realise it

Mario kart needs more speed, and mario does need another galaxy.
I'm sure the next 3d mario will be yet another amazing game though, i didnt think galaxy could be bettered last gen, and yet they did just that with the sequel.

I have to admit i have really hardly used my Wii U for any great amount of time since Xmas, the lack of games so far has been poor, but i buy the Wii U in the knowledge this was always going to be the case. But March looks to be a really exciting month with Monster Hunter and Lego City due for release. The one good thing i suppose about the lack of games is it has allowed my wallet to somewhat recover from the pounding it took from the xmas release schedule

I was under the impression the lego games were very basic games to buy the kids.

From my experience of lego games they are always releases targeted squarely at kids with super simple structures and goals etc, hence my surprise that a lego game would be big news?
Unless of course i have missed a lego game which was the nuts...
I must have if you are comparing it to mario.Last edited by PaTaito; 18-02-2013, 16:01.
