It sounds like a bit of me. I like these games that require a thought process. I'm currently stripping down Punch-Out!! as you know. I've ordered a new nunchuk in the blue Wii U box (I'm such an capitalist idiot), and I'm sending Dave (not you) to his local CEX this evening armed with eight whole English pounds for S&P2.
    Kept you waiting, huh?

Don't resist monster hunter Dave, just give in, its easier that way

Nunchuck controller ruined S&P 2 for me. I played the first one on N64 to death and it flowed way better with a "normal" controller.

The wiggle stick and nofunchuck on Wii are the worst controllers ever invented IMHO.

The 360 launch wasn't much better either. Highlights were a botched Quake 4 port, a broken Perfect Dark sequel and a couple games like Condemed, which Microsoft pretended were exclusives by not releasing them on the PC until a few months later.
MS didn't publish Condemned SEGA did and while it wasn't the best launch line up games like DOA IV, COD II, PGR III are more than a match for anything on the Wii. You also had half decent games like Kameo too and a few months down the line things started to improve Big time with the likes of GRAW, Fight Night 3 not only being great games, but also showcasing the true power of the system.

What the hell are you lot are on about? Why are you telling people to play Sin and Punishment 2 with the wii mote and nunchucks?

Its a fantastic game, but use the pro controller for god sake unless you want it ruined for you.

You can't aim as fast with an analogue stick, some sections can't be pulled off properly due to that.

It's one of the very few Wii games which grants an input scheme as close to a mouse and keyboard as you can get. It was clearly built around the control scheme, as was S&P1.

I've never had problems with the pad. I think it plays great with it, feels very much like the first game.

I'd say its built for the pad rather than the arm ache inducing motion controls.

Motion controls will never improve any game for me as they are usualy too uncomfortable, and even when they aren't its stuff like Zelda where you might as well use a pad as it doesn't add much. After the horrible way of controling most Wii games, the best thing about the WiiU is that it has a proper joypad and that its not focused on breaking your arms.

                    "Breaking your arms". Classic.

There are scoring requirements on certain sections where the stick can't cover the distance fast enough. It's made for a pointing device, further embellished by having a cross-hair on the screen. You also have the bonus precision that a pointing device brings.

I'm not a fan of motion controls in the slightest, but motion controls often work well with games that would otherwise be better played with a mouse rather than dual analogue sticks. The aiming on Resident Evil 4: Wii Edition springing to mind. While I would much rather use a mouse rather than a pointing device, it is true that motion control can be faster for aiming in the same way that a mouse can.

I am speaking generally, though. I've not played Sin & Punishment 2.

It verges on being a hybrid light gun game. Downgrading to the pro controller was reminiscent of using a pad for Virtua Cop on the Saturn.

Sin and Punishment 2 is not a light in game, its an on rails shooters in the vein of panzer dragoon. It is clearly made for a stick not a lightgun. The challenge mainly comes from avoiding enemies not the shooting of them. And it's a lot easier to avoid enemies on the controller than with motion controls.

switch the cursor speed to fast and its as quick to aim with the controller as the wii mote. This on top of the fact that the controller has more buttons, making things like rolling much easier, means its the supirior method.
