The trouble I am having is nothing to do with connecting to my router. I couldn't connect to my router at first, but I fixed it by altering the Ip address like has been suggest. The wii U now connects to my router, but It cant actually connect to the internet to download the update. Nothing seems to work.

How far away are you from your router? and who is your provider?

I'm on virgin and I've tried it bang next to the router. Makes no difference

It'll be a network configuration issue most likely, superhub is it?

I'll give you a hand if you wanna hop on MSN or something.

using DMZ will surely fix it. Have you tried that yet?

I will probably try it later.

It really is ridiculous though, When I buy a new console I expect it to work without having to to deal with all this complicated technical rubbish. Console gaming is more of a hassle than pc gaming these days.

Strange as I am on virgin and it literally worked first time. Not got a superhub though.

Well qBy the sounds of it superhubs are crap.

Before I mess about with this DMZ lark, could this be a software issue? If I use a wired connection to update will it fix the issue?

Who knows, but as the Wii-U doesn't have a network socket, you may find that tricky.

One thing I would try doing is turning the wireless down to 54g
On the superhub goto advanced settings then wireless radio. Some network adapters inside electronics don't like those faster types of wi-fi.

You could also try turning off the superhub's firewall whilst you do it.

The original Wii preferred channel 1, maybe try switching to that? And set the MTU at 1500.

How do I get to my routers settings then?

type 192.168.0.1 into your address bar

                              the username will probably be
                              admin

                              and the password
                              changeme

                              unless you've changed it already.
