It is. The machine boots up into the dash near enough straight away.

Can probably get more in if i have them all stacked the same way but no need for now but my collection of plates will keep growing.

Wish someone would manufacture a special folder for storing them so i didn't need to keep the mini clamshells to hold them all in.

Nice . I need more Face plates just seen Nintendo released the 2nd batch. Goomba and Animal Crossing one look good. No Zelda or Metroid yet though. I wonder if any mix and match look good like Toads face on top or a red bit on the bottom etc. looking forward to Nintendo releasing more of these.

Ye no prob copy all old 3DS SD card data to PC first then when transferring fully charge both units. The bottom option when transferring seems best which just does Data etc, some of the other options e.g the top two can take hours so be careful. Once Transfer is done either witless connect to PC via SD card mangement on New 3DS and transfer stuff from PC too it ( takes lots of 3DS battery) or put SD card n PC and copy across data you copied earlier.

Is it possible that games might get a better frame rate in the future, if played on the new model? Or is it just that the components are now so old. Ninty couldn't get supply any more and it was cheaper with fast components.

It's hard to tell with Nintendo!
As stated above by kryss and wakka plus Arashikage start up speed is rapid. Download speeds and also jumping to Home screen are a hell of a lot faster. Internet browser plus secret mini game is way faster new nub great for zooming in and out on pages. Old games not using new grunt but some new games will only work on New Nintendo 3DS I believe.

Cheers, the goomba one is indeed lovely some of the plates are matte and some are glossy i like that they have different finishes as both types enhance the colours the matte ones make the Kyary plates colours pop and the glossy ones do the same to the mario/luigi/goomba/peach/yoshi.

I can't wait to see the next batch from Nintendo. If you want to mess about with the faceplates to see what swapping the plate combinations would look like Nintendos site has a feature to let you do it. http://www.nintendo.co.jp/3ds/kisekae/#/try

Thanks for the link that's great can see how they match. Yes different finishes are neat, saw the fluffy grey one but thought it would feel weird when holding it. So many diffent types, I'm looking for a blue and white style one would be nice if they did a Game cube or Game boy style one too like the GBA Micros had.

Someone needs to get the Nintendo execs into a room and introduce them to the marvellous concept of the number "2".

Also, to explain that neither "U" nor "New" mean "2", or clearly explain the difference between "2" and "1".

Then to explain to them that this concept has been understood well throughout the world for a while now.

As much as I like the idea of the faceplates I just love how sleek and sophisticated the XL unit looks. It actually looks like a cutting edge piece of technology now rather than the toy it looked like before.

Until you touch it, nasty glossy greasy smearing everytime you touch the thing. I remember my launch 3DS the grease is nasty especially on the bottom half that you are holding, even if you wash your hands before playing it makes no difference.

Heads up for anyone that owns Taiko no tatsujin, Don & Kat's time adventure there is another free song available for a limited time. This one is also from Frozen and it's the do you want to build a snowman song.

Not sure how long it will stay free for but better get it sooner rather than later.

Really? I liken it to some wonder material that is fingerprint proof, finger marks just disappear. As opposed to the Wii U gamepad that attracts fingerprints like flies around...jam.

It's nowhere near as bad as the glossy WiiU pad that's for sure but it;s still not great. I'm just glad Nintendo didn't make both versions glossy. If i have a choice i'll choose non gloss every time, shouldn't have to be wiping fingermarks off stuff everytime i pick the thing up.

I was the opposite with the DSi, it was TOO matt, just felt dry in my hands.

Newest system update has gone live some nice new features added, nintendo also blocked the ninjahax exploit from working as well so if anyone was planning on using it you are now locked out of updating your 3DS.

And you'll miss out on the theme shuffle option!
I bought the AC Christmas theme earlier too
