The AUS ones were more expensive mainly because playasia were selling them so they hiked up the price so probably less of a price gap if you went on playasia's prices but compared to Amazon it seems like a rip. Bought a JPN one for ?91 and no import duty was paid because i marked down the parcel below the duty limit. The Tenso/shipping fees were about ?30 as i had a lot of other stuff in the parcel like faceplates/accessories. Even if you add in the price of a charging dock & smash faceplate you are still paying a lot less on Amazon, the only thing kind of interesting is the exclusive faceplate but even that's a bit bland looking.

Depends on just how bad people want the new model i guess if people are willing to pay that marked up premium price.

if they Hadent marked the price up with loads of tat I probably would have got one I'm tempted, but saying look at all this exclusive stuff then charging extra for it is not so much rewarding loyal fans more like an inforced inflated bundle designed to rinse early adopters, its like what game do with there inflated bundles.

The Nintendo die-hards who will lap this up, I doubt the ambassador faceplate is really gonna be that rare as i bet there will be thousands of these faceplate's flooding Ebay pretty soon. but If the crazy stuff starts to happen like it did with the villager and Marth and they start selling for silly money then I will be kicking myself.

I'll say this much (stating the obvious, perhaps): I'd be VERY surprised if the likes of GAME, Argos, Amazon et al stuck to Nintendo's RRP of ?156 for the New 3DS when it does eventually become widely available.

Game is the monopoly now so they will mark it right up, they already price hike with Amiibo & WiiU games,

I don't disagree with the majority of this but, in all fairness, they really aren't the only ones marking up the price of amiibo.

Their recent mark-up of Captain Toad in their stores is a disgrace though.

Again, for me, this only serves to highlight how much of a disaster it has been for Nintendo to effectively let their high-street presence die the way it has.

Around xmas they hiked up the prices of all Amiibo that were in stock to ?14.99, was clever how game bought out gamestation then closed them all down. So much for competition on the highstreet.

Every retailer that stocks amiibo, online or in-store, has marked them up. Look around you.

It really isn't just GAME doing it.

I'll take your word for it as i rarely shop on the highstreet, in leeds city center during the best time there were about 9 different game shop chains. Now there is just a game and one solitary grainger games and a CEX virtually no choice when coming to buy nintendo stuff.

It should never have been allowed, really.

Had it been a business that politicians care about, like Superdrug buying Boots, or M&S buying Debenhams it would never have happened.

I don't like how gaming stores on the high street have died either, even less so how import/retro stores have died out also.

Nintendo have to take some of the blame for this as well imo. I feel like they haven't done enough to maintain their presence in stores and/or supermarkets. For me, that needs to change come their next generation of hardware. Whether it actually will change is another debate entirely.

On the other side of the coin, at least it is still possible to buy games on the high street somewhere, if you are willing to pay over the odds to have it there and then?

High streets are 95% Greggs and payday loan shops now. With the occasional Poundland thrown in for good measure.

It's no excuse for Game's relentless price inflation and crap condition stock of course. Entertainment at bricks and mortar retail is all but dead these days in truth.

Was surprised to see GAME (in Chelmsford) weren't even stocking any new Wii games over Christmas, even new releases like the latest Dance 2015 or whatever it's called.

Nintendo depending on GAME to sell their wares is scary, hadn't really thought of it that way but it's pretty much there, local Asda and Tesco to me don't stock Wii U bits, and only a token gesture of 3DS bits.

Wahoo I've qualified for an ambassador UK 3ds limited edition

Just checked my emails and have been offered the ambassador 3DS. Really annoying as i have just brought one the other week. But i do like a limited edition console, will have to think. Just wonder how limited this is because so many people are saying they have received the offer?
