So the site is down but they'd earlier said preorders will be honored. Still likely they'll honor them? I've not paid HMV anything but I want my Steelbook Skyfall

my dredd arrived yesterday so it might be alright

and if skyfall gets sent (or looper) they might suddenly become the most valuable steelbook ever

I've got both of them on order. Hope we do get them.

Looper is available on Amazon now, so not going to be that valuable.

Give the lad a break... Excluding The Sims those are apparently quite good for what they are. At least he wasn't going for GTA, FIFA or CoD like all his mates. He obviously has some intelligence about him, and isn't afraid to step outside of the norm.

I think Pikate was making the same point but with a jest.

                  Really? I don't.

Rail Simulator is actually excellent, though odd to choose it instead of the more recent Train Simulator 2013.

I've never understood gift vouchers. Here you go, have this. It's like money, but I've limited where you can spend it. I fail to see the point.

Especially given the current state of the highstreet, with chains going into administration every week, you'd have to be a special kind of numpty to be buying gift vouchers.

Ding ding ding we have a winner. With the same **** that happened to game you would think people would learn about gift vouchers/credit notes already.

I think much of it is so that a person has no excuse to not treat themselves. Money has more chance of ending up being used to pay the bills.

I do broadly agree that they're a risky purchase in today's climate, though.

Some of it will be trade related like mine. HMV uses its gift card system for traded in games credit, you could restrict to trading only when something you want is available but the staggered value system means you get more if you trade in earlier so its a slight gamble. That said at least with HMV it seems likely they'll continue like GAME did so its not too bad yet from that angle. Should these closures take affect and continue to be widespread CEX is going to be laughing.

Well, word is that the cleaners have quit in our store. Staff were mopping the floors and cleaning the toilets this morning. The Limerick store is having a sit-in to demand pay, as they've gone into receivership. (Still blamed their "UK counterparts" for dragging them down, thanks guys.) Really hoping that Hilco step in and take over like they did with HMV Canada.

I really don't see how they can blame other generic stores for the failure? Prices would be set by the external management divisions and as with most branded stores most have an identical feel and staff are expected to hit a certain level of quality/sales.
