Consumers have the responsibility to find out information about the products they're buying. Thanks to the internet, it has never been easier, you can probably retrace all the components of Wii U to where they're manufactured if you care to look. Lazy and dumb people who assume things have themselves to blame if they get burned with the products they buy. If you're not familiar with video games you have even more reason to do research when buying a new piece of technology. But god forbid, if people should actually stop and use their brain for 3 minutes in this Facebook age.Last edited by Guts; 28-06-2013, 13:54.

3rd parties can only blame themselves for the slow uptake of the Wii U and the sales they generate from it. They came out full force at the start then decided to give up before launching anything else on the system. If they added the Wii U to their full development schedule then the Wii U would be selling better than it is now.
3rd party companies want a fanbase for the system but they aren't putting out the games to build such a demographic. Gamers are merely waiting for 3rd parties to show up on the system,
On a side note, i think Nintendo need to push the system hard in the run up to Christmas. They have some excellent software for the Wii U with the likes of NSMBU (and expansion), Wonderful 101, Bayonetta 2, Nintendo Land, Super Mario 3D World, Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze, Sonic Lost World and Wind Waker HD to name a few.
Contrast this with the PS4, Sony's lineup looks hardly inspiring even when compared to the Wii U's slow software release schedule with the 3 biggest exclusives being Knack, Drive Club, and Killzone. Plus the rest of their lineup one can play on other systems. The Wii U still has better software than the PS4. For this year at least...
If Nintendo push the Wii U hard this holiday season then they could have a decent take up for the end of the year. All they need to do is address to the general public the games they have and do it in a way that shows the system is worth buying.Last edited by Rider_on_the_Storm; 08-07-2013, 23:01.

I fail to even think of a game they did that with on the other platforms... Besides Nintendo need to sell the system first and foremost to give 3rd parties a reason to support the platform... Also it would be difficult to simply add the Wii U into the development cycle - it's significantly underpowered against the next generation at this point.
Or rather they did, but no one bought the system anyway...
I agree, infact Kamiya tweeted such concerns over W101 recently. However, unless you really love platformers then there isn't a whole lot there...
Sony's current line up feels like it's their just to dot the i's and cross the t's. Racer, Shooter and Child friendly leaving the 3rd parties to bring their A game. Plus it's an actual generational leap in hardware and will better suit online play. I might be wrong, but also big sellers like FIFA, CoD and Battlefield are all missing the Wii U this year...
They need to cut the price first. Ultimately I just think they missed their opportunity. They had a year head start on the PS4/XBO and ultimately only managed to deliver a bunch of platformers. Some of which won't even be out before those machines launch,,,

Wii U looks dead in the water. A new Mario, Zelda and MK will certainly shift lots of units and consoles. My view: Wii U is now a system for a select few first party Nintendo games. These will be of very high quality and provide a lot of entertainment to Ninty fans. The console will have a similar lifespan to Gamecube. Mario Galxaxy 3 will be saved for Wii Next.

I feel that the majority of gamers on these boards are old and wise enough to see that Wii-U has unfortunatley not been the success that Nintendo hoped, it won't sell that well in comparison to the runaway success of Wii, **BUT** there will be some choice games that will make it a must have purchase for Nintendo core gamers.
Perhaps this will encourage Nintendo to release a new machine a little earlier than originally planned.
I have a lot of respect for Nintendo. I prefer that they try to innovate and fail, rather than produce the same as everyone else.
I honestly truely believe that the power of the CPU/GPU is more than enough for Nintendo's style of games and quality of coders. It's the third parties who are screwed as they would have a nightmare to port games over from PS4/Xbone, the divide is so wide that the entire game design would need to be changed, and that's not cost effective for <2 million sales.

Even though I (sort of) understand their reasons, it just seemed crazy to launch a console that is about the same power as 7 year old competitors..... I still believe that had they provided a CPU/GPU that was 100USD more, and 75% of PS4 power, it would have made a big difference to non-core Nintendo fans.....

The Wii gave a genuinely new control system. The Wii U just feels like a pointless, expensive, underused gimmick.
Nintendo don't need to do stuff like this. They need to pour cash into software. The tools were already there. Make it powerful, Wii remote plus as standard, improved online service.
You know, things people want. Mario Kart 7 for example is a pain to get a group together online.

Nintendo have never done the things people want. Ever. Considering the company is worth more than Microsoft and Sony in their entirety, I don't think Nintendo are actually all that bothered. That may be a bad thing, but it's not like they're going to go away any time soon.Last edited by J0e Musashi; 09-07-2013, 08:09.Kept you waiting, huh?
