However, in the land of Nintendo it would totally be done via proprietary codes that are overly long and frustrating to enter even on a modern Smartphone.
Because Nintendo cares more than anyone else...
Still, would be a neat idea. I think they should seriously consider looking at it with the increased popularity of Apple/HTC/Samsung/Nokia/RIM and phone gaming on the go.

has anyone heard about Nintendo's Nuclear Option, the entire backlog of Nintendo games for free on the wiiu?
This keeps popping up around the net with a few big sites running with the story theres no firm news or anything from Nintendo so its a bit of a non story really, but an official 2 terabyte drive has appeared as an add on for the wiiu which makes you wonder why would anyone need that much space for a console with a very expensive eshop with very little content on it?
a Nintendo ambassador scheme or some type of playstaion+ type service with a 12 month free trial would certainly gives sales a kick in the Arse, allowing Nintendo to keep the wiiu alive at retail till the big hitters land like they did with the 3ds, Asda's recent drop of the console is really bad news. Supermarkets are dominating the games retail space. nintendos just lost visibility at one of the big 3 supermarkets and that is terrible news.
imagine a console that had access to hundreds of Nintendo classics but wouldn't cost you thousands of pounds to do so. There is a market out there for something along those lines look at things like the ouya and the game stick, its pretty much offering a way to get these old games for free right now in your living roomLast edited by Lebowski; 05-08-2013, 11:37.

Basically what has happened here is that Nintendo started saying that the Wii U can now handle HDD's of up to 3TB in size, and the Internet has totally lost the plot. You can connect two HDD's to Wii U, so that's in fact way more than 3TB of storage, twice that much at 6TB. There's no way in hell that Nintendo would release it's entire back-catalogue of games for free. You'd have to be seriously brain-damaged to even entertain such a notion IMO.Last edited by J0e Musashi; 05-08-2013, 11:47.Kept you waiting, huh?

Their individual properties are far more valuable than the Wii U. Wii U may well continue on its course and sink without trace, but Mario, Zelda and the rest will still be around for years to come and no doubt earn plenty of cash.
They wouldn't want to devalue those properties by basically doing a ROM dump on all owners' systems.

you could argue playstation+ is deranged as anything that appears on it is basically dead at retail, or you could say its a master stroke as these games are past there launch window and are given a second lease of life and generate income again via the ?40 a year fee.
Likewise the ambassador scheme Nintendo ran could be seen as deranged but it stopped the 3ds from being dropped at retail and bought them time to get more stuff out and is now selling a massive amount thanks to its excellent catalog of games, Nintendo doing nothing now would be deranged as we are seeing a slide at retail, Nintendo needs to stop that now or risk losing more suppliers.
