The GamePad option is the one I preferred and used through most of the game, but using the analog stick to aim the Pikmin never quite delivered the accuracy I wanted. The Wii Remote/Nunchuck setup (Miyamoto’s recommended control configuration) does deliver more precise aiming, but you need to use the GamePad to access the map (which you’ll be doing a lot). I don’t know about you, but I don’t have three hands to hold the Wiimote, Nunchuck and GamePad all at once"
Get this, this is when things get really freaky: When you need the map, you can put down the wiimote and nunchuck, and pick up the game pad! Genius!

We're not looking at the map 100% of the time after all, it's not like it's the main game. How about putting the game pad on the table/bed/sofa/lap. Unless of course you absolutely MUST have the map in your hands at all times.

I agree with him. There's one game a month on my rader from now until March 2014.

I think at the end of the day anyone buying a Wii U cannot really have any reason to be disappointed with it if you accepted it was never going to be a main console and for that reason I'm not. When I brought it on release date i knew it was always going to be a secondary console to the inevitable PS4 and Xbox One, just like the Wii. I brought it for the first party Nintendo games, the odd 3rd party gem and the Virtual Console, plus I really love the off tv function, that to me is pure genius.

I'm not ashamed to say I am a big Nintendo fan, the love they show for their products is what i really buy into, that's the reason I think it's such a shame it's selling so poorly but at the same time I accept nintendo have made a lot of mistakes with the Wii U, but for me the important thing is even despite the poor sales they are still in profit which is very good news.

Yeah of course you can, but it's just not an optimum setup. It would have been great if Pikmin 3 was oriented exclusively around gamepad play to help show the new control system's worth. Of course, it was originally in development for Gamecube and then probably for Wii (I think...is that right?), so it's no surprise that it's not. I'm sure it's a totally excellent game and I really want to play it though.

Nintendoland is a fun little collection of titles, but it seems to have failed in showing off the gamepad nearly as effectively as Wii Sports showed off the wiimote. I'm surprised they haven't made an Art Academy U.

Art Academy Wii U was announced at E3!
Believe it will integrate with MiiVerse.

For Pikmin I use Remote and Nunchuck and put the GamePad on the (non-charge) stand that comes in the Premium box.

I think most people can see past shiny new toy syndrome and see the replayability in the games they've been playing.

I think the game lineup for the next gen machine launches is pretty woeful as it stands currently. Barring DR3 there's nothing particularly exciting for me. I thought KI looked nice but that's free to play so that rules that out. Everything else on the XB1 just looks to be upgraded visual versions of current gen, so no thanks, and if graphics are a person's driving factor they'll be playing them on PC anyway.

On the PS4 front a Killzone game is always nice and perhaps Knack looks interesting. Again Warframe is more free to play stuff though.

So no I'm not terribly impressed by their lineups at the moment.

I'm failing to see a game directly from Nintendo that has an older, darker edge to it
I specifically stick to Nintendo to get away from this type of thing tbh. That isn't to say I rule out these types of games, something like God of War, Dark souls etc. are ace - but I feel, as has been stated many a time over, that the turn towards gritty, over-produced, Tinsel-Town led productions has actually made me move away from gaming. The bottom line is I don't want real-life represented in a video-game, I can open my window or, God forbid, watch the news and see that. I, of course understand the appeal of such games, but growing up in an era where you were forced to convince yourself that a collection of brightly coloured, blocky sprites was a hero on a princess-saving quest across the universe , I feel, allowed me to adapt and expand my imagination to, and in, videogames - I would argue certain present and future titles assume people want an immersive 'real-world' experience - something which I feel Nintendo isn't necessarily against - but rather caters for the imagination a tad more than perhaps a few other companies do.

to Be honest i agree only Killzone interests me on PS4 , and Forza and Dead rising sway my to the X BOX one to be honest, but none will probally get played more than Zelda remake, mario 3d and Donkey kong, but again you could agree thats just more of the same.

Woeful indeed, and no doubt we will get the traditional post-launch drought that has plagued every console release in recent memory. For now, the shiny new toy appeal of the PS4 is not enough to overcome the uninspired software announced so far, and in my eyes the WiiU has by far the most appealing selection of titles of any system for the next 6-9 months.

You cannot be serious? I'm a big Nintendo Wii U fan but there is now way it has the best line up for the next 9months, apart from Wonderful 101 and possibly the new Mario game there is nothing of any exclusive quality on the horizon at all. I can think of many many games coming out between now and xmas that Wii U doesnt compare to, GTA5 on Xbox/PS3 for starters then for new systems there is Watch Dogs, AC4, Battlefield 4 and Dead Rising 3 plus many others.

Is anyone on this forum truly surprised with the current state of the Wii U? An okay release followed by some decent software in the first handful of months, then intermittent releases of worth and most recently the E3-related Nintendo Direct that announced that "We have great games coming, they're just all out in 2014".

Nintendo are still great at bringing gamers that are fun first and everything the rest of the industry expects after that but the Wii U could do with greater support and love soon. In the meantime I'd suggest players gravitate towards Nintendo's most supported and best console atm, the 3DS.

I wonder if we'll ever see a future of Nintendo becoming a handheld-only manufacturer? Maybe even a Nintendo phone? That would actually be awesome

A Nintendo phone? I don't think friend codes are that scalable of a system.

I don't share the woeful next gen line up thoughts in the slightest. Dead Rising 3, Killer Instinct and Killzone look like decent games to start a system off with, plus those consoles will have the best versions of multi=platform games i.e Battlefield 4 60fps/1080p. Post launch Sony have Infamous second son arriving and the continued best version support of multi-platform games.

I'm going off topic, but the points is 99% of us posting in this thread all have PS3's, 360's or PC's (probably all of these!) and therefore don't mind Nintendo not really caring about their machine we have other stuff to play anyway. At best were all happy to have a Wii U as it does offer us platformers, which we don't really get these days - but I guarantee 99% of us would not be be happy with only a Wii U, which of course is the reason no one is touching it.

Deadly serious. Pikmin 3 dropped last week and is lovely, and further exclusive titles scheduled for the next 9 months that pique my interest:
Wonderful 101, Wind Waker HD, Sonic, Donkey Kong, Mario 3D World, Bayonetta 2, Mario Kart, plus stuff like Watch_Dogs, AC4, Rayman, COD are coming to the WiiU if they float your boat.

GTA5 looks wonderful and Dark Souls II will be spectacular but I am personally looking forward to more WiiU games than will be available on any other platform over the next 9 months.

This is spot on. Sure as an owner you'll get direct access to Nintendo's first-party output plus exclusive titles like Bayonetta 2 next year (which admittedly is looking fabulous). My concern with that is its almost like Nintendo are saying to dedicated gamers:

"Look at Bayonetta 2, that's just like the sort of games you like to play regularly isn't it? We've got them too on the Wii U. So you need to own one"

which sounds great until you realise that beyond a handful of titles the rest of Nintendo's catalogue for the system caters towards the younger market and/or are titles featuring Nintendo's stable of famous characters...

... the 3DS is an awesome portable though (I'm so full of it )

N.B I remember a recent announcement confirmed that Activision is showing Wii U support with plans to bring Call of Duty: Ghosts to the console. I'll eat some of my words then.
