I tend to go with where the bulk of my friends will be playing it which tends to be console rather than PC.

The Cost angle keeps me a console gamer. A decent gaming laptop is something like an Alienware and they cost a grand upwards, or you could go desktop PC gaming but even that is more expensive, a decent graphics card is a couple of hundred then you have processors ram, mother boards to think off. I like sitting on the sofa to play as I sit at a computer all day, and PC gaming tends to require a lot of faf and optimisation too.

I completely ignore FPS on consoles. Why would I want to play on a pad when I could use my mouse and keyboard?

I usually stick to exclusives with consoles, unless the consoles version of games are inferior. Like Saints Row 4.

Surely if you factor in the cost of a decent keyboard, mouse, monitor and good enough core components to future proof yourself a bit you are definitely looking towards at least the 900 mark.

I mean you could get it for less but surely it would be make do components and the worst peripherals going?

So I could spend ?900 to play watchdogs and hope my system will still be able to play new games in 3 years or I could pay ?350 and know I will still be getting support 3 years down the line,

I've tried PC gaming in the past I spent the best part of ?1200 on a beast of a machine for half life 2 and battlefield 2 supposedly it was tested and checked to some crazy standard before it shipped to me never did work out why the psu kept dying. It settled down eventually but the constant team speak issues. and patching requirements of most games left me cold and pushed me back towards consoles.

                    It's the age old argument.

I think this generation the argument is more revelent than previous gens, due to the machines being pretty basic.
But PC gaming is an entirely different kettle of fish, you need a certain set of skills /interests/ knowledge to participate with PC gaming.
For many people that simply makes it a faff or puts it out of reach entirely.

Then there is the whole games thing, PC gamers aren't playing GTA right now and they won't be playing many of Sony's or Microsoft's games. That isn't going to he good enough for plenty of people, the other argument is to own a PC for multiformat stuff and a console for exclusives, but then you are even more out of pocket.
That's assuming you don't play multiplayer with friends, in which case your format of choice may not be the same as theirs.

My actually like having all the choices and settings stripped away from me as it actually prevents me from playing games. I spend longer trying to get PC games to look or run right than I do actually playing them. Often I end up doing the first bit of the game like 6 times as I tweak and change settings that I can never settle on.

When I put Saints Row 4 on the 360...
Yeah it runs like ****, but I just got on with it and enjoyed it. I don't have the self control to do that with a PC anymore, hence why I don't bother for the most part.

Pcs are expensive. The games are cheaper though. ?900 is a reasonable estimate if you have no existing components. The bonus is the games look better.

A top boon for PC games is that the online functions are typically busy some years on where as console games are deserted.

This is the exact problem I've always had with PC gaming. It's a psychological issue I know but I am much happier having console games that just run at a set level. Otherwise I obsess over the settings.

I would dearly love to have games run at 1080/60 but I'm a) not prepared to drop the cash b) not prepared to fiddle about with building a computer and faff with Windows, which I dislike and haven't had experience of since XP.

To each their own though really. PC gaming is a hobby in and of itself, what with all the hardware upgrades and software tweaks and mods and stuff.

Al very true. I like having both. Pc only means no mgs4 or demon's souls. Console only meant no day Z or arma.

What is this, the PC thread now or what?
                              Kept you waiting, huh?

                                It's the PC Tangent.

As I made the decision to only have one console in the end and went with PS4 (even though I'll miss my Wii U a lot) I am planning on getting back into the FPS scene.

As far as I can tell there is three main choices at launch. Killzone, BF4 or COD. Anyone have any idea which is the best bet?

I recently logged onto Battlefield 3 on the PS3 as I haven't played battlefield in ages, there seemed to be no games available and the ones I did find were on private servers and basically everyone was an ass on the server and not very welcoming to someone new to the game which put me off a fair bit!

Aside from those FPS titles isn't is really only Assassins Creed and Watch Dogs day one that are worth a look. That being said War Frame and War Thunder will both be out then and I love War Thunder (even if their free to play model is a total rip off).
