It's already been confirmed by industry insiders on GAF concerning this game as well as others. People who can't say publicly who they are for but their details have been ratified by GAF staff. But irrelevant of that the validity and accuracy of their previous "leaks" would certainly back up their claims anyway.
Although it's sort of irrelevant with it already being confirmed anyway, why do you think that both Microsoft and Infinity Ward are not allowed to confirm details when Sony have been allowed to?
Personally, I genuinely don't really think that the lower resolution is going to be an issue as resolution is just one of many thing that contributes to the overall look and feel of a game. There will be people who care and probably even more people who say that they care but I'm not convinced it's an issue.
It's a little like the PS3 in some ways and once developers learn to get over the ESRAM hurdle which is believed by people who know far more about this stuff than me to be the problem then the two pieces of hardware and more importantly the cross platform games will be on a far more equal footing and everybody wins.

Until the game is released and can be analysed there is no irrefutable evidence. But people are extrapolating the silence around this issue and drawing their own conclusions. After the whole 900p debate surrounding Ryse I can understand why MS and Infinity Ward don't want to waste time discussing such matters. Previous COD games were sub 720p and it clearly didn't affect sales.

Can someone explain the importance of this argument?
I get what 1080p is but why in games is it such a be all and end all? I mean I can go online and download a movie in 1080p with a bitrate around 2,000 kbps and it's going to look rubbish compared to a 720p blu-ray at 26,000 kbps?
What confuses me most is that my TV tells me if a device switches it's resolution (my Wii via component did it all the time, my Apple TV 3 boots up in 720p then switches to 1080p) but my Xbox 360 or Wii U NEVER switch down from 1080p, I can say with 100% confidence my Wii U and Xbox 360 are always outputting 1080p down the HDMI, which I assume is upscaling since every time I reference games being 1080p on this forum some pedant corrects me saying it's 720p, but as this isn't compressed video, it's a machine rendering everything itself surely if the console upscales it to 1080p by very definition it is 1080p as games aren't a stretched image like an upscaled 720p movie? :SLast edited by Pikate; 26-10-2013, 12:45.

I really don't think the lower resolution is an issue either but them not being allowed to confirm the resolution certainly doesn't do anything to help them or to reassure any people who may have been paying attention to the seemingly endless bad press that the console has been getting whether it's true or not.
It's not going to be that many people it'll bother but they aren't in a particularly positive place at the moment in general so a simple confirmation of 1080p and 60 fps could reassure people who are worried about the long discussed difference in power between the two machines.
That combined with the fact that Infinity Ward have been showing gameplay videos all week with every one of them being the PS4 version even though they already have a deal with Microsoft can't be a good thing for Microsoft at the moment.
Hopefully other games will release videos on both formats over the coming weeks just to reassure people who are considering buying only one console at launch. Direct feed Battlefield 4 videos are being released this week and hopefully both will be brilliant even if they don't match up to the ultra PC version.

Just checked our AppleTV 3 and it boots straight into 1080p so not sure why your doesn't. Our TV resolution in the AppleTV is set to Auto rather than either of the 1080p settings, I prefer to watch things at the native resolution rather than upscaling I just feel it looks far better like that.
What's the importance of resolution? It's only you who can decide that, it may not make any difference at all to you and never let anybody try to convince you otherwise if that is the case.
You could technically have a superior image at 720p than at 1080p, the amount of pixels allows for superior definition but just because you're getting more pixels doesn't mean you're getting better or more accurate pixels. That's probably more to do with video that games though.
I suppose when it comes to this game the difference in resolution is more down to what it allows the developers to do, if they can produce something at 720p/60fps on one console and 1080p/60fps on another it just means they have a little more to play with, it gives them a bit more free space on the one that is capable of running it at 1080p to do what they want with that game.

The Xbox One also has a pretty good upscaler in it too to help the process. But basically the closer you sit to your screen the more 1080p becomes worthwhile.
I think Gaf makes such a fuss about it as they will sit maybe 2 feet away from a monitor.
A lot of the time I can't tell the difference between 1080 and 720 especially in movies as my tv handles the scaling well. It does affect games more but I can't see myself losing any sleep over it I'll just enjoy the games.
So I think for the majority especially if they manage 900p for most games wont notice a difference. People just like to complain for the sake of complaining some times.

900 or 1080 makes very lottle difference ona tv imo. What's important if the rumours are true is that out the get, at launch, the ps4 has , graphically, the best version of a very popular game. I expect the vast majority won't care but the vocal minority on forums like this will make a song and dance about it and we do tend to be the eqrky adoptwrs. Last gen the hardware specs between ps3 and 360 were so different thay all kimds of claims were made bu Sony about the power of cell and no one could, with any authority, call them out. This time even the layman can look at the specs and conclude (possibly wrongly- I don't really know) thay on paper os4 is better and then cod comes out and proves it so to speak. I have no idea if it will even matter in the long term but at the very leqst it makes Sony's offering look attractive. $100 less than xbox and undeniably (as the average person may see it) superior.
That's if the rumours are even true of course.

It depends on how much resolution you pick up on in sofa range...
For me personally true 1080p towers over anything 720p for quality, everything is super defined, as opposed to looking washed out, and soft.
900p may be more resolution than 720p, but you can never mask scaling.
I also think its important to consider where 4K displays come in later down the line.

Walked into my local smiths toys and they had a new ps4 demo pod set up. Got all excited as I approached. Controller is nice to hold, ok let's see how good killzone looks, oh no you don't, you can play FIFA and that's your lot, I instantly walked away in disgust.
Wtf were you thinking Sony? , you've gone through all the trouble and expense to install demo pods and given me zero reson to play on it. Really annoys me when companies do that, such a waste of everyone's time.
