That's what I was concerned about to be honest from the start. Especially with AC4, but with other games as well.

The jump from 360 > PS4 isn't going to be a 'wow' moment, like it was with more or less every console generation before.

I'm an AC fan, so it's going to be my launch PS4 game...but it's a pity I won't be blown away by it graphically.

I think I'll enjoy playing it on my Vita though.

AC offers a lot of value, and I think the Vita will add to this...particularly with collection quests, where you can just pick up and play a few, then put it down.
I agree, but would also say they have done an amazing job optimizing for 360! Looks quite incredible when all things considered.

I've never played an AC game for more than 20 minutes, so I will try again on this one!

I played them all this year after only playing number 1.

I really got into it, playing them one after another.

I like that kind of thing though, story wise.

Agree though, considering some of the releases in the past year or so, I honestly think people would still be happy with the 360 and PS3 if next gen wasn't on the horizon...some stunning games released recently.

May come in handy if servers get absolutely hammered on launch night, apparently this file will be the same across all regions, although worth waiting until launch just in case they change files for EU.

Wow cheers mate all over that especially as my internet is very poor. Good to see Sony thinking ahead especially after stuff like the Wii U update going belly up at launch. Pretty sure they should be fine at launch as I used to use U.K update files on my Japanese PS3.

So what headset are people going to use for the PS4 as I just noticed we are only getting an earbud and I do not like it at all. Any one-eared headsets (much like the 360 one) that people would recommend (relatively cheap)?

what about using a 360 headset and just buying a 2.5 to 3.5mm adapter?

Good idea, but I have the old design version of those. I'll see if I can find one of the newer versions as the connector would probably get in the way on the PS4 controller.

I'm going to use my Tritton 720 headset but that'll just be for audio as it runs through the optical on my TV. I guess I can use the "in the box" mono chat headset as that is an ear-bud and then use the Tritton for surround sound from the game.

I was rather shocked to see a one of those PS4 demo pods when I was in Smyths today... as has been said I was disappointed it didn't have Killzone, but it's obvious why it didn't. I did expect more demos than just Knack and Fifa though, pretty crap having those be my first impressions of the system. Fifa looked really good (beat some random 7 year old kid on it OH YEAH!!) and Knack was just terrible IMO. Graphics didn't look all that great, jaggies all over and the frame rate didn't feel like 60fps. The gameplay really wasn't that fun either, just amounted to hit this till it dies (which I guess crash etc did but they felt much more fun doing it).

Hopefully that was just an early version of Knack I played, otherwise it seems pretty awful but I'll still likely rent it if it reviews well.

I played Fifa VS this other guy too, who I thought looked a bit unintelligent to say the least... we played it for about 3 minutes, when he suddenly realised that he wasn't even controlling the game, and that it was the computer. I had to practically bite through my lip to stop myself going into hysterics. How on earth is it not immediately apparent that you're NOT playing a game??? It boggles the mind...

On to hardware... The console itself, considering how much I've heard that it's small, I was quite taken aback when I saw it in the demo pod. It's quite large. Maybe not quite as large as my fat PS3 but it certainly looked like it was bigger from the front to the back.

The controller felt really nice, but still not as good as a 360 one for me simply because of the placement of the sticks. It is better in every single way than the PS3 controller however, with the biggest difference being the triggers which felt really nice. The entire thing just fits really comfortably in the hand, compared to the PS3 when half the time using it-it felt really awkward and cumbersome.

This was the Smyth's in Team Valley, Gateshead for anyone near that who's wanting a look at one. I asked one of the guys working there and they just got the units in today. I wonder why only the game demo pods were publicised.

Here's some overly shaky pictures from my Galaxy S4!

Is the surprisingly deep physical depth of the console due to the slanted design?

Sounds similar to the original slim PS3, that has a rather large footprint due to the physical depth.

I'm not entirely sure to be honest, I didn't spend long with it (probably around 15-20 minutes) so It could have just been a snap judgement, and most of that time was looking at the games/ controllers but I think that is part of it. It didn't have a proper dash either, it looked like some place holder thing with a selectable game cover interface.

I found the controller much smaller in my hand than the ds3, don't know why, very comfortable though, really liked it. Though as i said before, even after using the console no one can judge it yet as all it had was fifa (looked and played identically to last years ps3 version), knack was broken, nice one, and a walled off garden temp OS with just videos. So disappointing. Also, as shakey mentioned, the console doesn't seem that small in the flesh, its weird, the controller seems a lot smaller than pictures suggest and the console seems bigger, very strange.

Sony spent an absolute fortune getting these demo pods into stores, but might as well of pissed that all down the drain on hookers and booze for all the good its done, at least somebody would have enjoyed the hookers and booze.

For me im just going to wait, theres too little info about important aspects of the console, for me personally anyway, to get me to put money down on something i actually know little about.
