          Blimey!

First Killzone requires 45Gb HDD Space and now CoD needs 49Gb!

          Crazy.

Going to be buying most of my games on disk. The HDD will be for the indie stuff mostly.

All disc games have mandatory installs, on both new consoles. The install sizes apply to disc games too.

There's a lot of counterfeit DS3s almost indistinguishable for ?20 or less. Of course they sometimes have battery or connection problems. Unless you pay full RRP form a well known seller, it's impossible to know which you will be buying.

I wouldn't mind if Sony included a wireless encryption key into the PS4 pads just to prevent counterfeit goods appearing in the market in the later years.

Yep. My post was based off of this image from a Kotaku story today.

Very tempting to grab a 1TB drive in preparation. If the default drive is 500GB (closer to 450GB in reality), some of which will then be reserved for system use, they might be closer to 400GB. If games are going to average at 50GB installs, the drives will fill quickly.

I was looking about online yesterday and Scan.co.uk have a 1TB Toshiba drive for ?50 inc VAT. Are Toshiba HDD any good? There was a Samsung one for ?65 too.

EDIT: I'm guessing the HD tech in PS4 is the same as the PS3?

Both the PS4 and XBox One have 5400rpm regular drives. Thankfully the PS4 internal drive can be upgraded.

You can get 1TB Hybrid-SSD drives for ?91. Would blow the socks off of the default drive in terms of speed. Whether or not it's worth the extra over a regular drive is another matter, however.

Sony say you need a minimum of 160gb free for a new HDD, so even a 500gb HDD could end up with less than 350gb free.

If you are buying new HDDs remember that it has to be smaller than 9.5mm thick, which some of the bigger ones aren't.

The PS4 uses Sata II so can use more bandwidth.

PS3 HDDs varied massively in there transfer speed as well as their cache size, hopefully they have gone with better components in the PS4 this time.

Yeah I know. I guess I mean that I've never felt the need to buy one, especially due to price. Not like I have mates over like when I did when I was a kid.

They already have done. There will be no third-party peripherals for PS4.
                                Kept you waiting, huh?
