I saw this thing this morning still can't believe it's real. Will be good for kids as 3D can damage their eyes

Does anyone here use the 3D on their 3DS?

Yep especially on Luigi Mansion it's brilliant. I have it quite low though else makes me the 3D effect too strong.

Always turned to max. A few games link visual effects to the slider, like NSMB2 that blurs out the bakcground in addition of the screen showing planes at different depths.

I absolutely love the 3D effect and I'm sad that this device effectively spells the end of the road for it. I appreciate it's a novelty that doesn't work too well and that it's had it's day in the sun, but when it works and your peering into a perfectly crafted little world it just feels magical, really. I'm absolutely savouring the 3D heavy titles right now, especially Super Mario 3D Land. Can't wait for a spot of Luigi's Mansion come Halloween

I doubt they will be releasing only 2D games for the 3DS from now on. The main core of users will still be using a 3DS there's no way they would scrap it. Sure the next handheld from them might not be in 3D but Nintendo will support this one while it's selling like mad.

I agree with that Importaku. Nintendo will surely continue to do 3D games for as long as 3DS owners will buy them. But the 2DS is a signal the 3D adventure is approaching its end. Going the way of motion control. Unless Nintendo can find a cheap way to undercut Oculus Rift they're gonna be clean out of novelties soon, and will have to revert back to good old fashioned single screen excellence.

The trouble is as soon as you go lower with the 3d depth slider, the already bad 3d viewing angle becomes atrocious...

They will probably release two versions of every single game now. One for 3DS and 3DS XL, and another version for 2DS, which has been re-programmed so that it doesn't crash when you press the Sleep button.

Personally, its an okaayish idea spoiled by crap battery life and a really shoddy design. It looks like it should fold in the middle.
