Maybe this has the option to do more yourself? Or on higher difficulties needs more skill?
Does look like one of those games that just shows off the shiny new graphics tbh though.

Are any of Cryteks games fun? Never actually pcked one up.

This is how the executions work
When an enemy is damaged enough to start an execution, if you keep attacking normally they will just die. When they die, a white bar below your health slowly fills up. If you enter the execution mode however, it enables you to add a multiplier to the white bar as it fills. The better the execution, the higher the multiplier. You are supposed to watch your character’s body language and determine if it is best to execute the enemy with the X button or the Y button.

If you make the correct choice immediately, you get the maximum multiplier. If you miss the first window of opportunity, the enemy will be highlighted blue or yellow to indicate if you are supposed to press X or Y. If you also miss that opportunity, the execution finishes itself and you don’t get much reward. If you press X where you should have pressed Y, or vice-versa, you get a reduced reward. Unfortunately, I didn’t figure out any of that while playing. I had to get the full explanation from a Microsoft Employee at the booth after I was done playing. Hopefully things will be clearer to the player for the final game. On a final note, because I was playing co-op with another PAX attendee, there was one execution where both of us tag-teamed it. He held the enemy down and I finished him off. It was a cool, unexpected moment.

      Lol at the 120hz

Thinking it will compare to the likes of Bayonetta or TW101 (or even DmC!) is quite absurd, unless they turn it around MASSIVELY.
Yes and I forget the likes of Bayonetta came out for the 360 launch or DMC for the PS2 *rolls eyes* .

ou're just fabricating and extension to someone else's opinion and arguing with it for the sake of doing so
No we see quite a lot of people go on about how's there not much to look forward to and harp on about the 16 bit days .

I got to play this yesterday at the EB expo in Sydney. The demo involved two player co-op in the gladiatorial arena with you and a mate taking on waves of different enemies. Sort of like Horde mode.

First off all I will say is 1080p or not... It's looked absolutely gorgeous. Seriously out of all the Xbox One games I played yesterday this was the biggest surprise.

Also in terms of combat it felt very satisfying and the executions were nothing like the QTE seen previously. Perhaps it was just this mode but when you dazed and enemy they got a skull & cross bones icon flick up and it then required you to quickly hold the LT and then select from a range of moves to execute on the face buttons.

I only managed to pull off about 3 executions as the enemies got tough really quickly. I didn't last past the 3rd wave where you took on 2 large Barbarians with shields that blocked & parried really well.

All up whilst it wasn't the single player myself and a mate who played with me both agreed it was the stand out ge on show there which is something considering we got to play a load of other stuff as well.

this is pretty funny ryse devs boast on twitter about how many dinners have been served to there crunch team and it starts a whole ****storm about crunch periods, some great tweets and a good read.

Next-gen kicks off this November. That means there are a ton of developers out there busting their butts off to get launch games out on time—and Ryse: Son of Rome, an Xbox One exclusive developed by Crytek, is no different.

love the way marketing bods get stung when there being stupid and have no control over how things turn out, got to love the internet for this sort of thing.

I guess it was expected but I didn't expect it to be quite this bad!

                Ouch. Joystiq aren't impressed either:

The Joystiq article sounds very forced.

It's a hack & slash 3rd person affair set in Rome... What else did they expect around the use of violence..?

                        Jupiters Cock!

Batman style combat without batmans gadgets or the exploring or stealth, erm no thanks

                          The finishers still sound broken

Rookie mistake never take the skill out of the combat!!! idiots.

Massively different with DMC. Ryse is a tried and tested gameplay style which nothing that cannot be done on the current or even past gen, bar the visuals. DMC was something entirely now on consoles that started on unlock the real potential of 3D game design. DMC was and remains a masterpiece. It was also technically amazing with 480i and 60fps, rock solid. Twice the resolution and frame rate of pretty much every 32bit era game.

I still remember being amazed at Devil May Cry. That and GTA3 were why I wanted a PS2.

I remember seeing the spider boss videos on GamerTv (?) on Sky on constant loop with the smash Brother melee intro. So awesome. Those were the glory days of PS2, Gta, DMC MGS2

Still call it Jaggies may cry to this day. PS2 at its jaggiest
