Dude, we have a stack of k0-0p games to work our way through too!

Off the top of my head: Saints Row IV; Max Payne 3; Halo 3, 4, Reach and ODST; Dead Island 2; Army of Two; Kane and Lynch 2; Borderlands 2; Gears of War 2 & 3; Rock Band: Beatles; Armored Core For Answer; Fuse; Syndicate; Crackdown 2; Sniper Elite V2; EDF 2025!

I was worried I'd be posting about a well-covered topic already but it seems the feeling's more than mutual among the forumites. Makes sense though with the new consoles offering the fresh factor and a handful of titles to play but the PS3/Xbox 360 having stacks of content to experience yet. Was watching gameplay of Dead Rising 3 this morning and does look fun, albeit like its predecessors minus area loading and some of the inconveniences the previous entries carried.

Winter time is one long backlog playing party then? (not to be taken in the wrong context, mind)...

Indeed, Wii U Mario 3D and Grant Turismo 6 alone, plus a couple of PC bits should keep me entertained well in to 2014 and keep the wallet and missus happy.

I'm in a similar boat. I want to finish the main games of this generation before getting the xb1 and ps4. My ps3 broke about 2 years ago and I've just got a good deal on a super slim so I should be back in the playstation world next week. These are the main exclusives I wanna play:

          Beyond: Two Souls
          God of War series
          Journey
          Killzone 3
          Rain
          Resistance 2/3
          The last of us
          Uncharted 3
          Yakuza 4

I was already half way through yakuza4 and resistance2 when it died so I'll be starting them from the beginning again. ANyone recommend any other excellent ps3 games? There's loads of xbox360 games I wanna play too. I've been playing through some recently on pc and xbox.

Both. Got over excited and ordered a PS4 but still gaming on the PS3.

Dragon's Dogma and Rain for sure. Waiting for the inevitable PS4 version of Journey though.

I recommend Valkyria Chronicles and Folklore if you haven't played them jamesy. Resistance 3 is FANTASTIC! Don't let the mediocrity of R2 put you off playing 3.

Kind of happy to go at my own pace, still far too much left to play on the consoles i already have. In fact with the arrival of next gen it has made me go & play more of what i haven't gotten around to as well as pick up the missing games i have wanted, hell i could have easily have bought a Xbone or PS4 with the amount i have blown on DS games this month alone. Although technically next gen is over as the next gen machines are now current gen hehe

Funny thing is, I've barely played my 360/PS3 so far too.

Whenever I turn on my PS3 it used to be for fighting games and the like, completed very few titles on it. Few more on 360 but still, been playing last gen more this gen..

                Completed:

                PS3:

                Last of Us
                Metal Gear Solid 4
                Metal Gear Rising
                No More Heroes

                360:

                Bayonetta
                Nier
                Bullet Witch
                X Blades
                Lollipop Chainsaw
                Devil May Cry 4

... So 10 games completed, blimey.

I'll definitely have to try Folklore. I remember playing the demo near the ps3's launch and for whatever reason I never got around to getting the full game. I'll have a look at valkyria too. I'm sure they're both super cheap by now. I didn;t enjoy R2 as much as the orginal so glad to hear the third is an improvement. Cheers for the recommendations!

Whether it's a temporary phase or not I don't know but I'm currently not bothered about any gen, really. I got a Wii U a few months back and while it works fine and has some games I should be (and in past years, would be) really excited about it doesn't really get much use. I still like game 'culture' (well, wacky Japanese game culture) and the art and design that goes with that but I really couldn't give a fig about actually playing a game. I'm not dumping the lot only to find, in a year's time, I regret it but as far as the Xbone and PS4 go, at the moment I don't have any intention of ever buying either.

There's nothing on the next-gen systems that grabs my attention really. I'm really liking the hardware and if anything the first thing I might pick up is the Wii U for the few exclusives. Having said that, there are a few games coming for the PS3 that I will get down the line so there's no need for PS4/XOne at the moment. There's just nothing to play for me. Also, I think the 3DS is overlooked in these conversations... I'm mainly a JRPG gamer and these systems will mainly be supporting those games. I'll get a PS4 if I have extra cash, and ultimately when FFXV is released.

I think I'm safe to post in here, because all the next-gen guys will be having too much fun on their new systems to read this.
Or possibly they will because they have plenty of time on their hands waiting for firmware updates, software updates and game downloads...

I'm sure they're all having fun and I feel a bit like I'm pointing at the Emporer in his new clothes, but is anybody else completely underwhemled by the feedback so far?

It's mainly the One as it's out, but I'm sure PS4 will be just as bad, but it feels like a lot of people are putting a positive spin on a half-grand outlay and half-ton games.

So far the highest praise for the console itself seems to be that Kinect voice control is better than expected and the camera can read codes.

The majority of the games seem like slight graphical upgrades of existing games and sometimes with features taken out. No Arcade mode in Killer Instinct?! Is there a Sandbox mode in Dead Rising 3?

One of the few original titles and the best looking game is Ryse. It's about 7 hours long. At ?45 that's around ?6.50 and hour.

I know there are some hardware issues, but there always are, so I'm not going to go on about those.

However, I feel like I've had a glimpse into the future of gaming and I don't really like where it's going.
The mandatory installs to hard drive are going to be a massive issue in the near future and 500Gb is going to fill up very quickly.
Let's say you'd bought 5 launch titles (Ryse, B4, CoD, NBA, Forza 5), that already totals 160Gb.

Also, do any of the games work out of the box?
I know there are going to be teething problems on launch games, but it feels like now we've accepted that you can't buy a game and then play it, we've set a precedent.

What if you don't have unlimited broadband? Or maybe share it with others or you can't tie up your connection for hours on end?

You've blazed through Ryse in 7 hours, need the hard drive space, so you uninstall it. Your mate gets a copy too and suggests playing Ryse in co-op. This means you have to re-download the game and the patches before you can play it again.

XBox One: Ready when you are*
                          (not including download times)

                            Gutting isn't it.

Financially there is nothing stopping me from buying both consoles with the full set of games but I know I would feel underwhelmed with my ego desperately trying to convince me otherwise.

No arcade mode in Killer instinct??? WTF? Still there is no online mode on Battlefield 4

The One and PS4 stink of rush job so by the time we have worked our way through the best of the 360/PS3 the next gen should be in full swing.

No point turning up to a party too early when only the **** people (launch games) are there.

Persona 5 PS3 exclusive, reason enough to keep any machine.

No . Try its a very nice and very well made console .

And yet something like ICO gets super praise on this board and is just as short and wasn't even a launch game *Rolls Eye's* . Ryse is a perfect launch game - It plays great and shows off the Hardware and to me that's all I want at a systems launch

The majority of the games seem like slight graphical upgrades of existing games and sometimes with features taken out. No Arcade mode in Killer Instinct?! Is there a Sandbox mode in Dead Rising 3?
What do you expect on a console launch ? . People here seem to love the likes of PS2, PS3, 360 and what no and all seems to forget how their launch line ups were lacking . I mean PGR3 wasn't step up over PGR 2 in terms of content , COD 2 was a basic port with just 8 LIVE players , Gun hardly used the 360 hardware at all and the likes of PDZ were utter tripe and other than Motorstorm they wasn't much on the PS3 launch either

I just say that Fifa 14 and Battlefield 4 are massive steps up over the 360 versions (going on demo's) and the likes of Ryse and Forza are great too . Imo its one of the best launch line ups I can remember. The bad parts are the downloads (and they are a pain) and the fact that you can't bring your friends list up with just a press of the guide button .
