I don't care about PS4/One, poor launches on both with zero interesting games for me personally. I have games to finish on 360, PS3, Wii and 3DS plus recently been doing retro gaming on the SNES and older PC titles, so yeah, no reason what-so-ever to get an expensive new piece of hardware for me.

Mostly disappointment, 'transgen' transferred games with at least 1 tech demo being past off as a game. Hence my avoidance of any launch since Gamecube
What is this transgen and shinny graphics load of tosh ?. What was the 16 bit generation launches over the 8bit other than bigger sprites and more colourful graphics ? .

Did that comparison just get made?
I don't think so , but on the one hand some shorts games like Silent Hill 2 or ICO are held up as classics while people knock Ryse for being short :/ . In the end Ryse does what a launch games should and that's show off the hardware

Hence my avoidance of any launch since Gamecube.
Yes remind me again who long Luigi took to finish ? And Ryse on the XBox One is to what Star Wars RS II was on the Cube - A nice decent game with graphics that show off the hardware (that cover a lot of the game simplicity )

What did the 16-bits bring? Besides, Super Mario World one of, if not the best 2D platform game ever made, not much I guess.

More of the same though right, only with more colourful graphics ? ; That's good for Nintendo bad for Microsoft or SONY.

That was rhetorical - you were the one who made the comparison you plonker.

Every launch game ever could've been Rise of the Robots and I'd still moan about this launch.

I think we've had this conversation enough times already in numerous other topics so I'm not going to bother again.

I'd personally like to see MS & Sony use all this power to create some stunning colourful fantasy worlds. Or have another game like oblivion but one that looks like what the pc version does with all those beautiful HD enhanced graphical mods.

Try playing the consoles you may change your tune just like you did with LIVE and the 360 :P

I would say the 3D effects of the SNES launch titles like F-Zero and Pilotwings were more than just bigger sprites and more colourful graphics. They were fundamental to the gameplay and not just pretty for the sake of it.

Personally, I think buying a console on the launch line-up alone is a bit myopic, and the thing I'm concerned about is that we're now accepting that hard drive installs and updates with every single game launched is now going to be the norm in the same way that horse armour has now evolved to Season Passes.

Mode 7 as mentioned and pretty impressive arcade ports, certainly.on the MD. Then Ridge Racer, Tekken, Wipeout..mmmmm

Never played it mate, I thought it looked rubbish.

I was underwhelmed with the Cube launch hence it was my last, that's my point.

Pilotwings wasn't a launch title and you know some of us did see 3D graphics on the 8 bit consoles :P.

And lets remember the MD drive launch titles that were Space Harrier 2 and Super Thunderblade hardly the MD finest hour , but in the end they did the job - played ok and showed some of the MD power . It's not like we didn't see some impressive Arcade ports on the 8 Bit machines like the Master System or PC Engine either

It was poor , but got better a few months down the line with the USA launch and the stunning Star Wars RS II - which to me is very much Ryse - Plays nice enough is a nice game and is also a game that shows off the Hardware

Yeah that is a pain and sadly MS seems to think that everyone has super fast BB and Fibre Optic . Mind you they had knockers when MS made the X-Box Broadband only and didn't also support 56k

You're being a little pedantic! Pilotwings came out a month after launch in Japan, which these days would be called "launch window", and it was part of the US SNES launch lineup! F-Zero was definitely launch, so I stand by that one!

Well since we're judging the XBox One and PS4 by what games are available on day one when the consoles made their debt to the market , I think its only fair to do the same with the other consoles . Who knows by the time the XBox One launches in Japan or the likes of Norway it may have a far better line up :P

More than a little pedantic. We must have been over the relative merits of the launch games on the SNES and the MD in about 4000 threads in the past month.

Who cares, it's just circular tit for tat. The point is, the launch games of this new generation are ****. That's what we're here to bemoan. Ryse? Load of flashy bollocks. Forza? **** version of a 360 game structured like CandyCrush Racing Sim Saga. Killzone? Aliens vs space marines borefest. Driveclub? Not even out but probably crap. Knack? A platform game that is to Mario what Shark Tale is to Finding Nemo.

Let's get the ball rolling here! Whoop! /o/
