Nintendo just seem so laid back about it all, no worries and no urgency with regards to the Wii U. Only kept mine for the last six months MK8, once bored of that it will be sold. Such a mess and hopefully they've learned a few harsh lessons along the way.

Agreed. I appreciate that they spend a long time developing their games and that's OK in my book. But they could be doing so much more to sell systems - I've said it before but 3DS and Wii U need to be integrated. VC games should be cross compatible, you should be able to manage your 3DS from the Wii U and buy 3DS games on the Wii U eShop. Throw a fat discount on a Wii U out to registered 3DS owners.
The eShop itself could do with a significant overhaul too, it looks so old school and crap. The search feature is just bizarre. It gives you the option of about 8000 different filters, when there's precious little on the store anyway. It should be a big fat bar on page 1, that starts showing results as you type. Any digital marketing or e-commerce agency could tell them this stuff.
It just feels like they gave up last year really. They'll continue to support it with their usual quality first party software to reward people who've already bought the system, but that's about it. Unfortunately for a company that prides itself on innovation, they are very slow to adapt and update things.

It's no suprise to see MK8 isn't selling systems it's a great game but not one that most people would rush out to get a system for, the library is still so poor. Not in quality but more in quantity of games available for the time it's been out so far and even less so in the UK which is the arse end of the Nintendo gaming world it has virtually no store presence anywhere.
When Fatal frame drops that's when i'll pick one up but if i list the games i want for one it still doesn't even make 10 titles.
Fatal frame
Taiko no tatsujin
Nes remix 1&2 collection
Super mario 3D world
Mario kart 8
Pikmin 3
That's literally everything i can think of that i'd want.

Development of all these games needed to be started well ahead of the Wii being retired in order to get them out in a timely manner, and to kick start the wiiU with quality software, not every week but at least every month.
They just just never seemed to be bothered about the console, they have the reasources to of made all these games already and be on the second wave.
They may as well make Zelda a launch title for the next console now and be done with it, everyone will of traded their wiiU in by Christmas 2015.Last edited by fishbowlhead; 30-07-2014, 13:34.

Good thing that Wii U has so much quality 3rd-party support to fall back on eh?

I'm getting concerned it's almost August and we still don't even have a date for Smash Bros yet. I'd be lying if I didn't say my WiiU patience wasn't wearing thin again. At the time, and I always felt people where just being carried by the recent MK8 launch high, Nintendo's E3 showed they had little to turn the system around but there was some hope of some half decent fun by years end. At this rate it might end up just being Bayonetta 2

Just over 24 hours left to register a copy of MK8 on Club Nintendo for a free download of one of ten Wii U games to choose from.
Sorry, this promotion is no longer active. Keep an eye on the website for upcoming Club Nintendo promotions, so hopefully you won't miss out on the next one.
The actual free game download code itself is valid until end of August.

Well I've never bought a Nintendo console for third party software although obviously I've played many, most notably Rare. But that was N64 days.
I still have no interest in XB1 or PS4, possibly made worse as it's summer, it's boiling, my garden is demanding and rewarding and I'd rather be sat outside drinking cold beers and firing up the barbie.
It's odd going in to shops and seeing little or no stock for a console I bought about two months ago. Never experienced this before. However one quality game a month normally does me and I've a few Wii U titles to catch up on.
I don't sell any games or consoles as I collect. Much to my wife's joy I must add.
I'm enjoying the Wii U more than the Wii though. I think. However I don't think I'll ever get that Mario 64, Blast Corps, Goldeneye or OoT feeling ever again from Nintendo. Perhaps that's purely down to my age. Probably. Technological leap those though. Perhaps that VR headset will make me go "****ing, wow!!!"? Who knows.
Pity that Nintendo keep missing out as nobody makes such charming games with such childlike joy.
