    they also say

"Mario Kart 8, the next major Wii U title after Donkey Kong, displays a map on the GamePad screen. Pressing it will let you sound your horn."

talk about an integral experience, driving along someone gets in your way, bang on the gamepad and scream expletives.

picture the scene little Timmy and his farther are at home playing Mario Kart when Timmys mother comes in to the sound of little Timmy crying

"Darling why is little Timmy crying"

"well he fired a red shell at me and i said i would brake his legs and also called him a little fnucking cnut while banging the horn on the Gamepad"

The game pad is only cut out for a stylus, I don't think it would register it if I tried to bang my horn on it.

i think someone forgot to tell retro that they where focusing on makig the gamepad integral to the wiiu experience now
Not knocking retro as they make bloody awesome games, but this just sums up the gamepad full stop for me.

Retro are too good to just randomly disregard a big part of the system, i think this is a big pointer to a gamepad free WiiU bundle.

It cant be a directive to utilize the gamepad now...even for top nintendo software houses.

Ninty would only announce a ?10 price drop minus the gamepad anyway and make another balls up of it all

Maybe DKC is designed to be playable with the Pro Controller and maybe even the Wii remote? Maybe it has something to do with multiplayer.

It needs to get it sales in there fast before the next Apple TV comes out. I can just see casual Wii gamers going for the new games section on Apple TV.

Gamepad is turning into map/inventory screen, then, just like Ninty said would never happen to the DS screen except it did (apart from one or two clever games like TWEWY).

Today's bad news is that no Arkham Origins DLC for WiiU. Nintendo issuing refunds where appropriate:

No official word but we all know Watch Dogs won't see a WiiU release either. It's pretty sad. Hoping for Iwata to announce a plan of some sort before too long.

They should get into bed with Valve.

He did, a couple of days ago at shareholders' meeting I think. No price drop or gamepad-free WiiU, better integration of online services with smartfones (ie, they're making a Nintendo app), and licensing of Nintendo characters for other devs/platforms. Job done.
