No announced Zelda* or Metroid, no. Zelda is surely inevitable though, we'll probably see it at E3. Practically zero chance of a revised pad that supports 3DS carts.

If you like Nintendo and Platinum games, then get one, cuz it's the only place to play them.

*OK so there's Hyrule Warriors. But it's literally just Dynasty Warriors with a Zelda license. It's made by KOEI too.

New zelda was announced before the system was launched and Nintendo have confirmed it was in development multiple times. I've had my Wii U since launch and I could quite easily manage with just that console, it has by far the best library of games on the next gen systems plus you can also play Wii games that you might have missed. Also the VC service has hundreds of games from multiple systems. Third party support is abysmal, worse than the support the n64 got, and unfortunately the situation will not change. But if you like Nintendo games it's an essential purchase

Sounds good to me guys. Well, I think the primary reason for me wanting the system is the Nintendo games. As long as there is a strong core of them in place and on the horizon.

What are your views on playing the games on the pad only?

          Do you really need 5?

I can't imagine why any gamer wouldn't have a WiiU. Mario Kart 8 is out this month - will you be playing it? I will

Is 12 Games worth the price of the console? Thats up to your wallet!

            Dont forget:

            Lego City
            Rayman Legends
            Nes Remix 1/2
            Wii U Sports Tennis/Golf
All the great Virtual Console games (great if you havent played the NES/SNES/GBA games in a long time)

There are indeed some great games on the WiiU, in fact I would say the majority of games ont he system are good to very good. Mine doesn't get nowhere as used as it should. That's getting rectified as I am now taking my WiiU with me for my weekly hotel visits. The beauty of not requiring a TV for the most part.

In terms of smoothness and response time it's pretty much perfect. Artifacting and other visual errors are also minimal. However the range is poor, and depending on the type of building you live in it might not work at all through walls.

The screen is fairly small - 6 inches, so a bit bigger than your smartphone (or about the same size if you have a giant Note or similar). It's also pretty low res, so you're essentially playing the games in SD. It's also pretty washed out.

So it works well, but there are caveats. I live alone and it doesn't work in my bedroom, so it's pretty much useless to me. If you share a family TV I'm sure it's invaluable.

I only ever used the CPP myself. The GamePad is too unwieldy for everyday use IMO. The battery always runs out when you get to the last boss too. I'd have the GamePad nearby to use as a map on MH3U, but I'd never bother with it unless it was a requirement as with Zombie U.
                  Kept you waiting, huh?

The higher capacity battery does help somewhat, usually lasts around 6 hours which is at most what I would do in one session.

I have probably used the Gamepad as a screen as much as using the WiiU on the TV / Projector. And I dont even need to compete for screen time with anyone else.

Its very refreshing just to turn the pad on and play games on it, never thought I would as much as I have done. It just seems perfectly natural to do. Yeah it doesn't compare with a big screen, but it works so well.

With the Wii support, do you still need to use Wiimotes and sensor or have they been a bit clever by adapting controls to the gamepad in any way?

                        Wiimotes still a requirement

Nintendo confirms the next console is broadly mapped out but the comments have a distinct air that we won't see anything pre-2016 onward

Amazing deal for the Premium Zelda bundle Wii U in HMVs @ ?149. I saw it on hotukdeals earlier and thought hard about jumping in the car and getting one.

That is a great deal but could end up a wild goose chase, not seen a Wii U console in the HMV round my way for ages, just a handful of Wii U games.
