One thing they can learn despite 10/10 reviews for Super Mario 3D, it isn't a system seller. IMHO the days of Mario shifting millions of consoles have gone. Nintendo new IP. Sony and MS have developed them with 3rd parties and that is where Nintendo could learn from Sony. But, I really don't think they have the people or culture to do that right now they are still Japan focused and appear to have very little knowledge of Western needs. Add that to their woeful network set up and they really have a long way to go to compete in the home console market. Handhelds they are still winning, but for how long?

They'd have to give up on their philosophy of not selling at a loss to keep up with MS and Sony otherwise they'll be forever releasing last-gen machines due to hardware costs.
Mind you, GameCube is a bit of a beast and was out at the same time as the PS2/Xbox which both sold at a loss I think.

what are you talking about...the 2ds has no 3d effect, so nintendo clearly ditched 3d for the design.
Here's some new for you, 3d is as good as dead.

But for what it's worth, I agree that 3D is dead and will not feature on future hardware.

I was in Sainsburys today and in the video game section a mother said to her 6 (ish) year old:-
Mum - Haven't we got a Wii U?
Kid - No, we have a Wii.
Mum - What is the difference?
Kid - It's just a Wii but you can play games on the tablet.
Mum - Oh right, well we have an iPad so I guess we do not need to buy that

Me "No it's a new console the pad is just the new controller"
Him "can he take his wiiu pad with him in the car"
Me "No it has to be in range of the wiiu "

1) Games are still being developed with 3D visuals, and will be as long as people are still making games for the 3DS. Which could be as far ahead as the next five to six years. So no, 3D is currently far from dead.
2) The 2DS doesn't replace the 3DS in any way. It's a step down for concerned parents, people who don't care for 3D, or for people wanting to save as much cash as possible. If it starts selling more than the LL then we can expect Nintendo to take notice of that.

Ninty really, really need to get a new advertising agency now, one that can clearly spell out exactly what the WiiU is, does & how it does it. Itle be cheaper than ditching the console all together especially as it already has some great games to build on.

As for the Wii U, well people are idiots. The Wii U has the best games at the moment, but people are morons and like TEH SHINY which is why they are willing to pay ?400 to play crap like Ryse and Knack when they could be playing real, great games for much cheaper on the Wii U.Last edited by Guts; 19-01-2014, 11:51.
