Mario on the iPhone... No thanks.

I'd rather see Nintendo stop making games altogether than see Mario as some freemium PoS on the Apple store.

Nintendo are true "Toy" innovators, so what about a launch of Mario on iPhone, with a controller/caddy add on. i.e all smart devices become a new "3DS" with Nintendo controller..

I'd rather Nintendo tried, rather than them giving up.

like Batman or Cod theres probaly not a big enough of return on investment, if you take into account the units sold and the % of users that wont be interested/too young/buying it on next gen, then your looking at very low sales numbers.

Well then here's what Nintendo should do.

Design compatible iOS controllers, Nintendo only controllers that are based on their old designs.
NES pad, SNES pad, N64 pad.
Launch specific iOS games that exclusively use these controllers, NES/SNES/N64/ games, cash in on these old games across iOS.
Game profit AND new hardware profit.

Who on Earth is going to carry around a separate controller to play games on their phone (that they have to pay for! lol!) when they can play Temple Run or Jingle Jewel Balls for free without the need of an extra pad?

Especially considering when people on here complain about having to use Wii controllers to play Wii games on the WiiU gamepad.

If one or two of those nine platform games was a Metroid Game, an F-Zero game or a Star Fox game for Wii U, I would have a Wii U. I would imagine many others too. I am a huge fan of their games overall, but I don't want or need nine platform games.

Many others? More like several dozen others. Outside of forums no one really cares about F-Zero or Starfox. Historically they've never shifted that many numbers.

Is Nintendo's handheld division really that ****ed that they have to start porting games to phones and compete with themselves?

Maybe Sony should look at making Vita games compatible with iOS, maybe that will start shifting 10x as many Vitas?

Nintendo have been in last place (ok, second to last if we include DC) before and then gone on to win the next battle. Do we think they will stagger the generation this time and bring out something new halfway into the PS4/XBO lifecycle? I think they need to. They can't just leave WiiU sitting there doing nothing can they? UK PS4 software sales in 4 weeks are double that of WiiU's 12 months. Nintendo are very aware of what's happened and must have a plan. Curious to see what it is. Don't let this gen be a 2 horse race!

It's a shame because it supposedly used the GamePad really well.

Surely the game is almost finished? Sounds like a crazy waste of money.

It's just a business decision. Ubisoft must have predicted that WiiU sales are unlikely to cover the costs of continued development. Assuming the rumor is true. A shame though; Ubisoft used the WiiU pad really well in ZombiU I thought.

What is that other UbiSoft game coming out with Ghibli style visuals, about a young Austrian girl or something?

A 2D side scrolling RPG.

I hope that is still coming, that is the game I was really looking forward to.
