Skylander type figures will now be required for the new Smash bros brawl!!! to use that character in the game you will need the corresponding figure, cant wait to see what the Zelda and Mega Man figures look like, I dont have a wiiu anymore and i want the toon link and mega man figures i may have to pick this game up on the 3ds now how cool*

Also while not required figures will unlock special ability's for racers in Mariokart 8 as well as exclusive kart skins in addition each character will also have there own exclusive track which can only be unlocked via the figure**

I wouldn't be at all surprised if the reason that the WiiU Smash Bros has been pushed into 2015 has got something to do with your 'lie' scenario no. 1, actually Lebowski...time to manufacture the things and that... think SSBB was the highest selling game on Wii in Japan and maybe elsewhere (not counting Wii Sports in the bundle), so it could be massive if bundled up nicely.

Had a look through a bunch of wii u gameplay vids to see if I was being overly harsh. I can't even say much positive. Mario Kart looks good for a last gen game I guess. The zelda combat game looks like something from the ps2 era. I'm not seeing the light at the end of the tunnel here?

Nintendo seem to have gotten lazy. Like they're trying to stretch themselves with god awful spinoff games in order to cover the fact they actually have no quality Mario game, Zelda, Resi exclusive etc to fall back on.

Some crappy Youtube vids don't tell **** about the actual games. Mario 3D World looks lush on a huge HD TV, as does Wind Waker HD and pretty much every other Nintendo game too.

And for the record, 3D World for example has more quality than 99% of the ****e put out today.

Won't be a portal. They'll use the NFC sensor on the GamePad.

As for DS games on the VC. I feel they should do some kind of NFC link to the DS so owners of games don't have to double dip. THey can just use their existing games.

Will need a portal for the 3DS, I believe, which it applies to also.

Its nice the figures will be cross game, should do well on 3DS. Hopefully they're not cheap build either and make decent figures in themselves

Really? i wasn't aware you worked at Nintendo, Didn't you sign a NDA though about disclosing information about games that aren't out yet, I imagine Nintendo wont be to happy with you leaking development information about games that aren't out yet, even if it is something as insignificant as how long somethings been in development.

Yes I believe it was; still is 2014 for the 3DS version.

must admit, mario kart 8 looks abit tasty - Is there anything else coming out for the wiiu, other than Bayonetta 2/Zelda , which i have zero interest in. Dont know if I can justify rebuying it for one game

Still is for the WiiU version. Winter 2014 it says. I mean it could slip of course, anything can, but it's still currently set for this year.

What intrigues me about NFP is it could be a cool way to sell DLC for games.

As an example: Mario Kart 8. Has 30 racers but you buy an NFP figure for a character that isn't in the game and it adds them to the roster. It could also unlock a bonus track or something.

Whether the data is on the figure or the scanning of the NFP figure refers the game to a specific online address for the content to be downloaded is another question.

This is a pretty interesting info graphic, which shows the sales for software and consoles, pretty good attach rates for software all-round, 5 games sold per wiiu, 9 games per wii sold, while 3ds has 4 games per console sold,
