You can pick up an Xone WITH a kinect & Titanfall for ?350 already
It will be full rrp on day 1 to grab the rabid anti kinect crews cash.

Then the price will come down.

Its dropped to ?350 by various retailers for a while tho, not just recently.

How much is the Kinect worth then?
The Kinect for 360 was ?130 when it first came out so this kinectless Xone (given that the rrp of the Xone + Kinect is ?399) should be priced at ?269 not ?350

Nice idea but good luck with that thinking.

It'll be ?299 at a few places online by mid-summer I'm sure. Shame it looks like it's stand alone without Kinect, there isn't a Titanfall pack for the same price.

The 360 was cheaper than the PS3, & was the 'inferior' console, same as this time round, so you would think that the same logic would apply too the current gen

PS2 was the weaker system and often the more expensive option, still caned the opposition. It's just what's 'in' that sells and unfortunately for MS Sony has had that edge for a full year. The PS3's impressive recovery and gain on the 360's sales shows that MS can pull off a similar move and ultimately come out on top but it also shows it's a long term progressive target and MS would still need to do what they've never done yet, top Sony's popularity in Asia and the EU. Hell, take away the likely number of replacement units from the 360's sales and its a possibility they don't just have to win back gamers but also a big chunk who were never on board.

The flip side regardless though is that on its own merits the XBO is selling fine even before the kinect change so at least the competition aspect is going nowhere even if second place seems assured

You have more chance of Kenny Everett winning Eurovision ... oh wait

I'd like to know what SWERY thinks about this sudden killing of Kinect and MS, must be a nice boost of sales for D4 (which is a Kinect game).

I'm sure both people that are developing kinect games for Microsoft will be compensated in some way joke

It's not dead just been put to one side in favor of bringing the price down to get more people on-board. Microsoft knows theirs no killer games for it to show at E3 so there sidelining it. I'm hopping we will get a few more games for it. A kinect indie game jam would be a cool thing for Microsoft to try and organise, hell id settle for a new Kinect Adventures at this moment in time.

Japan is a complete joke of a market and handheld central it's not a bi deal anymore to lose that market for MS. Seeing as MS always done well in the USA and UK it must those are the markets it needs to try harder and win back some sales , though not going Europe wide was a screw up MS

Its all but dead and good job. MS wil be far better off showing of the likes of Halo 5 and the new Gears to get America back

We may very much well have our reason for all this Kinect U-Turn business. Whilst Xbox One has sold well overall sales began to slow down by April leading the system to sell less during the month than the 360 ever did during the same month prior to the XBO's launch. Given there's no exclusive titles currently coming to the system for months to boost sales I'm assuming MS felt action was needed as the US market is too important to lose momentum in.

My thoughts exactly when I was reading that half asleep first thing this morning. Sales seem to have really tailed off in an alarming way over in the US. Game attach rate isn't too shabby mind you.

The 360 backwards compatibility would be nice yeah, but I'd also like to be able to play all the Arcade, Indie & 360 game downloads that I've paid for & are linked to my 360 account.

Backwards compatibility really would have set it apart from the PS4. I can't be the only one that would want that feature more than a Kinect?

All this microphone talk - do we have an answer yet? I'm guessing if you want to control your One with your voice you need Kinect too?

Backwards compatibility would have helped One sales I guess, but did it really make a difference to sales of the PS3 in it's early life? and as Sony dropped it after about six months guess they are using that as a reference point. If they could have included it for the first 12 months (and then dropped it due to cost if needs be) I'm sure it would have helped considerably with the 360/One transition period.

                              All ifs and buts now.

Backwards compatibility is a very relevant concern for both new consoles sony have plans but its all a bit to littel to late, Microsoft have just ignored it and its a shame they have, like David said maybe it would have got more people to upgrade if they had got this working on the one from the off.
