"Analysts" are claiming with this change, the Xbox will overtake the PS4 in the US next year, although the PS4 will remain on top for global numbers.

Very reasonable thinking too. Bang in a Halo/Gears/COD game, drop the price and Kinect, stabilize the OS and tweak the XBL and you have a good product at the right price and offering the gamers what they want. If the XB1 games have slightly worse framerates/resolution or whatever it won't matter at all.

i.e both consoles are on a level playing field, the ps4 is marginally better on the GPU side, but branding, exclusive games and attraction of existing XB360 gamers will sway the crowds to Xbone.

Many businesses make mistakes, it takes great leadership to admit them in time, turn things around and deliver what your customers want. I suspect Phil Spencer is involved here and my HOPE is that the gaming division of xbox (at MS or spun off) learns that the GAMERS are important to their business model, and that means GAMES are priority #1 and not Cable TV.....

Gamers who are excited about games and not fanboyism should all be pleased by these latest events, and save your pennies for an XB1 if you don't have one already. Next GEN is on!

If MS can get the exclusives on board then there should be catch up in the US, it'll certainly be the territory where the two are closest pitched as EU and Japan will always veer to PS. I don't think the price drop on its own will make much difference though, in the end MS has made this move during a real lull period where the impact isn't going to be as dramatic as it could have been (coupled with the price drop not pushing the system beyond what it was already discounted to anyway). We'll see an improvement but unless they really bolster their fall 2014 exclusives line up I don't think much will change regarding its position against PS4. The US might have been historically favourable to Xbox but a headstart, especially one as clean as PS4's, can't be underestimated. Either way, we know MS aren't coming last this gen

WiiU has worse specs than the PS4 and XBO .. Which is best? A lot would argue that the WiiU is currently holding its own games wise.

Power don't mean crap without the games to back it up, and so far its 1 - 0 to Microsoft on that front (IMO). Lets see what happens shall we, I would rather have crappier hardware than no competition at all, because if it was just Sony, it would be a very sad gaming world indeed.

The ps4 is significantly more powerful on the gpu front and the DDR5 ram confers some real advantage. You're right about most consumers not caring, though.

I disagree. I have both and 5 hours to get DR3 to playable is a pisstake. I cannot
find a game I have on X1 that is better than anything on PS4, sure DR3 is nice
but its still nowhere near as good as DR2 to play and forza is ok, ryse is pretty
but that's it. Best thing I have found is peggle 2 but it says a lot to say the best game on X1 is a ?10 download game, I didn't like Titanfall btw but I don't like any fps.

This is accurate imo, although it will have sunset overdrive, d4 and fantasia which i bought it for but you are correct, while not crap it does feel slightly clunkier (not necessarily inferior) than the ps4 at the minute

Shouldn't have taken you 5 hours then ... I think mine took about 30 minutes in all , and that was installing from disc and downloading updates (on day one).

You can do a rudimentary speed check from the Network settings btw .. Might be worth worth checking as DR3 really shouldn't have taken that long, not be a long way.

Its about 36 down but meh I can live with it, I'm still happy to own both Was probably the huge update that did it
