I wish MS had the balls to stick with the DRM and make the XBox One Online - I'm pissed off with the need to change the discs and all that . And dropping Kinect doesn't deserve any sort of respect, its should have never been made with the system in the 1st place.

For all that though the XBox 1 is a great system and I'm enjoying it more than the PS4

Another thing both platform holders need to figure is why a thirty something gamer with reasonable amounts of disposable income like me has almost zero interest in the new systems.
Given that both systems have shifted impressive amounts of Hardware already, I don't think that's an issue tbh

I doubt Sony care mate. PS4 is the fastest selling console in history. They probably think there isn't a problem :-)

@cappers - Half of me agrees with you about giving MS some credit. I don't want a one horse race; I remember smug Sony and I didn't like it. The other half though says all they've done is taken a year to gradually bring the system in line with what consumers wanted in the first place. It might seem unfair, but right now I think they ought to go above and beyond to win back goodwill. Mind you, it's been selling ok and will probably do even better soon. A good E3 (FFS Microsoft PLEASE do a good E3. Matrick has gone, there's no excuse) will see them back in favour maybe.

It would be 1 higher definitely as I was planning on staying in the msoft camp. The 360 got me back to being a "real" gamer after a few lost years as an EA Sports player and I was perfectly happy to make the upgrade. Til the "TEEVEE TEEVEE KINECT TEEVEE" announcement.

Is it possible to take screenshots and record gameplay using buttons on the controller?

We're still in the early adopter phase though and the prior generation was unusually long as well giving rise to a more pent up demand for something new. Thing is what's the attach rate like for the new systems so far?
And why is there loads more PS4s in the various branches of CEX near me.

Sony dominating gaming again will kill it. It's already turned into Hollywood. The only outside chance of redemption would be a dominant platform leading to risk taking on indies among larger publishers. Irrespective of how good indies are they don't have the marketing reach major titles do.

"Analysts" are claiming with this change, the Xbox will overtake the PS4 in the US next year, although the PS4 will remain on top for global numbers.

You can almost picture the scene as the Xbox team brainstorm ways to crack the Japanese market.

Maybe this is their best bet -

that's typical financial thinking. i don't think this is going to happen. PS4 leads in sales not because of being the cheapest next gen offer but because of being the better overall value proposition, mostly due to the better hardware specs.

I wouldn't be surprised if there was an XBone V2 say next year, with DDR5 and maybe a better GPU.

Yes so far MS and SONY to get sales of 5 and 7 million respectively its hugely impressive and up there with PS2 levels of sales and performance and I never read much into seeing new tech in the likes of Cex and so on , that always happens with the new phones or Tablets and so on .

I'm not sure about that in the USA. Its more about price and online sides of things in the USA.

DDR4 hasn't even been released yet!

There is no chance they will release an Xbox One with higher specs that would be a huge mistake. That really would shaft everybody who brought the first version and make a two tier system. The only conceivable way it could be done would be to replace everyone who owned the first version with a free upgrade to a newer one and i don't think even MS could absorb that amount of expenditure.
