Seems like a leaked TGS reveal. I didn't mind the first, worked better on 3DS than on console but found it more entertaining that anything Resident Evil related released since 4

Over the moon about this. Loved the first game on 3DS. It felt at home on the machine. I wish it was for that mind.

Having played the 3DS version online last night (and considering picking up the PS3 version 2nd-hand as I've seen it quite cheap locally) I'm happy to hear that they're continuing with this effective spin-off of the main numbered franchise. As long as they can maintain the high quality of the first entry I'm totally on board with this when it comes out. Now all we need is a release date and formats (beyond Microsoft platforms of course).

The cover reminds me of Manhunt 2. Hopefully it will play better though!

As it is coming to last gen platforms, I doubt it will deviate too from the original formular... I get the impression that if it were to be Xbox One and PS4 consoles only, the potential would be there for them to try different techniques and ideas to utilise the updated hardware.

But as it stands, I'd still be happy with more Resident Evil action

I liked to slower pace and darker feel of Revelations. It was a much better game than both 5 and 6. Only the enemy design really let it down and the lack of a really strong antagonist.

Yeah, the wibbly wobbly enemies were a bit ****e! Needed proper decaying zombies but apart from that was cool.

The story and characters were utter ****e though.

That black guy and that nerd bloke? What the ****, talk about talking you out of the mood. I didn't like bouncing around environments and characters either- and the section where you're gunning down millions of Hunters :/

I'd be happy if they focused on a similar design to the cruise ship and stayed there for the whole game, stuck with 2 characters there to keep the tension, and have proper enemies in it rather than those crap jelly things that didn't show if you were doing any damage.

I didn't feel it had a slower pace at all. The missions where you basically ran through shooting hunters was boring as hell and you did it at least 5 - 6 times. The voice acting in it was also god awful even by RE standards. The bit with the invisible hunters.....that computer guys voice....jesus christ.

It was full of boring or annoying characters and terrible enemy designs which only got worse as the game progressed, i honestly thought it was as bad as RE6 and RE6 was absolute rubbish. A real shame too because i had heard people say this was RE back on form and it really really wasn't imo.

I played through 5 again afterwards and it's a much more enjoyable game despite the terrible locations and enemies, it's still not a great game compared to 4,2 and 1 but its enjoyable and the DLC is really excellent.

                      I can't wait for ReRemake.

What I said, but differently. Couldnt agree more. People told me this was a return to Resi form. They lied, and I was disappointed.

I played on 3DS, and it seemed to be in the same vein as Resi 5, but people were a bit more forgiving as the thing was running on a handheld.

Capcom still seem to be scrabbling around for a direction, what with this and porting the Gamecube Remake.

The first was utter ****e. Shocking weapon feedback, awful atmosphere, stupid as **** dialogue (wtf was that blonde woman talking about to chris when they were in alaska? speaking of her why was she wearing short shorts in minus 30 degree weather?

I uninstalled about half way through out of pure boredom.

                            Kill the ****ing series already.

This is quite a spot-on summary of Capcom's current relationship with the Resident Evil franchise. The two newest entries in the series announced being the 2nd in a spin-off from the main numbered entries and a HD re-release of the remake (that reads kind of weirdly) suggest that maybe they want to take the franchise back to the roots of what made it popular in its early days?

Don't want to get people's hopes up too much though as watch Capcom counter this by announcing Resident Evil 7 which finds beloved characters from the RE franchise fighting waves of bio-organic creatures and zombies in a 3D brawler-style game, unlocking moves and special attacks as they progress. It'll be Zombie Revenge all over again (so probably half terrible then).

Let's hope TGS brings more solid news on RE Revelations 2. I'm up for finding out more.
