The first Resident Evil Revelations was a decent enough romp, but people who claimed the game was a return to classic Resident Evil... well, they're wrong.

True, it did have a slower pace, less enemies and more enclosed corridor spaces, probably due to the limitations of the original 3DS version. But I'm not convinced that this was intentionally by design, and the game itself betrays this claim once you leave the ship.

Hopefully the upcoming re-release of REmake will remind people what a survival horror actually is, rather than people being convinced that it's Resident Evil 5 with less enemies.

Or just play Alien: Isolation, The Evil Within or the Kojima Silent Hill.

Well, no one in this thread claimed it was a return to classic Resident Evil.

Some reviewers did. Have a feeling said IGN reviewers were like 18 and probably think Resi 4 was the first popular resi game.

Aside from the enemies being a bit rubbish, the scanning mechanic and the non-ship chapters, which I felt were unnecessary, I rather enjoyed the first. But if I were to go for a sequel it would be on the 3DS. No talk of a handheld version?

If they've got the first one's engine set-up to run on all formats, then if would make sense to release the follow-up for everything. Remember this 360 stuff is a leak, and 3DS could still be the lead format.

That's true. It would be nice to have this come to 3DS.

It would be nice if Capcom got their freaking act together, and went back to creating The Resi games that they are famous for. Hopefully RE:Make being released will make big sales, and show Capcom that people just want an actually, good Resi game for a change. I said it before when Resi 4 first came out, and by word I'll say it again. The change of direction was a huge mistake and all their Resi games have gone downhill since then. Period.

4 wasn't too bad i still enjoyed it but the story started to get a bit weird, i could kind of believe that a virus was responisble but then there were the leeches from zero and then the parasites in 4 where they weren't zombies anymore started to get a bit far fetched. After that Capcom managed to screw it all up to be honest id have been happy if t had just ended at 4 but Capcom want to keep this cash cow going as long as they can.

4 is incredible. It is basically just like 2, heavily action lead. I don't see why people think otherwise.
4 breathed life into the series when it needed it. Sadly they went full co op shooter after which ruined it.

I'm not a Resident Evil fan by any means, but totally agree with Naka. Resi 4 is an amazing game and modernized the series for the better.

4 had all of the main series traits. Silly puzzles, exploding heads, epic bosses, crap plot, zany characters. Everything is in there. It's Resi 2 but over the shoulder and tilted slightly further toward action.

I like RE4 a lot and I really like the old RE games too. Funny thing is my favourite part of playing RE4 the first time was the bit where you meet the regenerators. That part really feels like the old RE games. The replay value is better in other sections though.

Seems like Capcom have lost a great deal of talent and their output since the PS2/GC days has been disappointing with nothing special since. I think Dead Rising 1 and DMC4 were made when they still had some quality staff but I believe even some of them left.
