Considering at least 10 of those wii u games are actually the same game rereleased that seems fairly pitiful.

For comparison, I think the Dreamcast released 250 in a shorter space of time - it's around that I'm sure someone on here has a complete collection and can tell the exact number.

i reckon at a guess, i probably own 45 or so, the most recent was that legend of kay but i dont see me firing it up anytime soon (and this is a remastered 10 year old game too)

So 117 retail games since it launched here 32 months ago, equals less than one new game a week at retail. That ratio is only going to get worse too sadly.

Acoording to this list on NinendoLife.com there are another 14 titles due in 2015, not sure they are all retail discs

The Wii U does have a few games I would like to play don't get me wrong, but about four games in the last eighteen months isn't a console seller.

It's worse than that if you factor quality, I own 14 Wii U games (I've bought 15, but didn't hang on to Bayonetta 2 as it was a bit out of place among my other titles and the boxart is ugly). I'd say there's max 30 Wii U games worth bothering with, and coming up there's only Super Mario Maker, Star Fox Zero, Xenoblade Chronicles X, Animal Crossing amiibo festival (pushing it a bit when I say that's worth bothering with), Mario Tennis (ditto) and Zelda U (MAYBE?). Personally though I think gaming as an industry is in the doldrums quality and quantity-wise.

The N64 comparison is a bit irrelevant unless you're talking about gaming as a whole since eShop and virtual console etc didn't exist then. PS1 vs. PS4 physical releases would look the same I'd bet, I know my own PS4 to-buy list is currently very short compared to what I had on 360 (it's basically Street Fighter 5, Metal Gear 5 and Persona 5 then a load of games I could have played on older hardware like Resident Evil ports, Rayman Legends, Child of Light, Shovel Knight, Guacamelee... Actually I could play those last few on Wii U but I refuse to buy 3rd party games on a Nintendo console, doesn't feel right to me).

Surely you can't think the PS4/XB1 are oversaturated with amazing must play titles either if rather than playing those games you're looking up obscure facts like the number of retail games released on Wii U to post about it in a Wii U dedicated thread.

Finngamer, as far as I know, has compiled a list of all physical releases for the Wii U, as he's going for a full set. The list can be found here:

I think this is the definitive list if interested in the topic. So far, it lists 159 unique games, all editions 208 (sets etc.).

            Does say:

Unique games - US RELEASE 117
That must be where that figure came from.

208 is all Editions meaning Hyrule x4 editions, Black Flag x 4, it's stretching the truth imo.

Even combining all regions is 159 a lot?

I'd say no. Not an impressive showing and most of those titles are daft shovelware. My eyes bleed when watching finngamer's collection videos. At least the Dreamcast, with its short lifespan, had a great selection of quality arcade titles. But that was the era, so you can't rely on that anymore.

I have 17 physical WiiU games, and my played:unplayed ratio sits at a reasonable 50:50. Still have some silly purchases but they were cheap so I'm not too worried, like Splinter Cell Blacklist for $10 and similar for AC Blackflag. I'm still very much a GameCube fan. The little discs! The shape of the console! The opening animation!

I used to hold Z or whatever whenever I played Resident Evil because I enjoyed the kids laughing before the violence warning

Is that really the reason? You ain't missed much as, despite the reviews, it's not a great game compared to the original Bayonetta which is far, far superior; but would you sell MK8 or Pikmin 3 or whatever your favourite games are because you didn't like the box art?

Amazon UK appear to have price-matched ShopTo.

I got it too from amazon - I think they were there first though as shopto was about ?27 when I bought it...

Not unless they reduced it previously. Took them a month to match Shopto this time around. Shame they never come up with any game deals themselves, just price match others.

Nope. ShopTo have been selling W101 at that price for much longer than Amazon have.
