I could understand if it if it had a special ps1 chipset built in, or had the top 10 Sony ps1 games pre installed or something else really unique. Not getting it at all, but i suppose i was never one for limited editions.

I appreciate the aim of the anniversary edition but for me it's the ugliest LE they've done yet. Now, if they'd made a PS4 in the shape of a PS1, that would have been cool. It would have been so easy to make one in the shape of a PS2!
