I hold both the original and remake in very high regard. They were going with a more serious tone with the remake though so along with professional voice actors they would have to redo the cut scenes to reflect this.

I played through the Director's Cut last year and the first movie that came to mind was Evil Dead 2, something about the B movieness of it all...

I do prefer the remake and i think it was masterfully remade, the way it plays with your expectations really got to me on the 1st few playthroughs. Like the dog corridor on the ground floor

where you expect the dogs to come crashing through but the window only cracks....

Ideally the RE2 remake will play on the expectations of jump scares.

The thing about Biohazard 4 is that Extermination came four years before it. Biohazard 4 offered nothing that Extermination didn't. You could even switch to first person view. Nobody seems to remember Extermination though.

I do. Didn't think it was that good.

Regardless, it offered everything that Biohazard 4 did and more. Biohazard 4 is not the amazing revolutionary title that many hold it to be.

I thought Extermination was brill. I was saying at the time that Resi 4 played very similarly to it too. I think I might get myself another copy!

No one paid any heed to Extermination because despite some clever ideas, it wasn't a great product.

I do too. It was a good game but not even in the same timezone as Resi 4. It used to be ?1 down at CEX. It was a pound well spent, I'll grant it that. But it was flawed and reminded me a bit of that DC game, Blue Stinger.

Extermination is fantastic. I'm at a loss as to why a sequel wasn't made.

If it isn't as good as Resi 4 I'll be frankly mildly upset.

Incorrect. The only reason that it went under the radar was because it came out right at the start of the PS2's life. Ask ten people. I guarantee that six of them will have never heard of it.

Personally I think a Biohazard 2 remake may be too late. It would have been fantastic ten years ago, but it's terribly dated now. Even if they add in more stuff like they did with REmake, it'll still be a very old title dragged forward by almost 20 years. Likewise if they change it too much they run the risk of it not being the game people have asked for for all of these years.

Biohazard 3 is an infinitely better game. The fast pace of it would be much better suited to modernisation too.

The HD version of the original Resident Evil Remake sold well so there is clearly a market for it. Personally still find they play absolutely superbly within the confines of their design.

All this talk of RE2 remake and I've never played it! Huge fan of RE1 and the Remake. So, which version is best, DC or PS1 ver?
