I had assumed the £40 additional for the Horizon game was just the cost of the Horizon game added on, but seems it'll be sold separately for £60. Oh well. Hopefully they'll issue a physical version and I can flip it after beating it.

It's expensive, for a limited market, it's only real notable game is overrpriced, up for pre-order during a cost of living crisis, as a recession kicks in, weeks before Christmas, on a limited userbase format. The only way it would sell-out would be if miniscule numbers were produced which I wouldn't have put past them. I think the February release date is the key mistake, it pushes it away from an impulse Xmas gift idea to something with a big price tag on it just before taxes ramp up again. Gating this for now through the Direct store was very much an attempt to cut out retailers on early units and to mask order statuses. Either they made a **** ton of them and so were stupid in over producing or they have made a conservative number and the demand isn't there for that number.
This isn't even a knock against PSVR. Personally speaking, I've spent more on VR before so I won't pretend they couldn't sway me or won't at some point but it's been absolutely, staggeringly poorly managed by Sony so far as a proposition.
Throw open the pre-orders to standard retails, market it from January 01 2023 and communicate the reasons to own one. They need to talk a ton more about the first year road map for the device, the better experience it delivers and the support it will be receiving. The most notable gaming factor of the device so far is the PSVR games you can't play rather than the ones you can.
And patches - lots and lots of patches - utterly inexcusable that many PSVR games don't work with it to some degree. Like hell games like Wipeout, GT7 etc can't run out of the box.
