Minor irk, not to do with the console but instead the mobile app. It's convenient being able to select a game whilst you're out and have it install but it's frustrating that it seems to absolutely refuse to stop also downloading games I've previously requested too when doing it. I've cleared them from the list etc but when I select a new game they pop back up in the list and start auto-downloading.

It's a smart response if anything else. It's complete fact that even with the size of acquisition Microsoft would still be 3rd place in overall size in this market in terms of overall share. So really there is nothing Microsoft feels it needs to concede because by that measure it isn't a monopoly. That's really all that is being stated here and it's really for the ears of the official parties looking into the whole legality of it.
I'm sure there'll be a big hoo-hah the gaming media about this one but it'll go through mostly unopposed.
I guess it does raise questions in future if MS were to buy any more large developers / publishers.

Well, if you buy what he's selling, sure. It's a nice piece of spin by Nadella, but there's a reason that antitrust committees are staffed by humans rather than just relying on a numerical formula. There is a bigger picture than simply Microsoft's current market share. If they go round buying up more mega-publishers, pretty soon they will be an unassailable monopoly, no matter how small the Xbox's slice of the market might currently look compared to the Switch's (or to the iPhone App Store's).
Microsoft seem confident this deal will go through easily and I've no reason to doubt that. But the consolidation of gaming needs to be carefully managed by regulators going forward.

Halo Infinite player count has dropped significantly since launch.
Having played it a little bit, it's a good game. I think these days though, people probably expect a constant influx of new content, challenges and Loot to keep it going.

On top of that, they should have released some new maps by now. It shipped with a very small amount and I'd hoped they would have dropped at least a couple more in each size. As such it's become very stale, despite offering some great new modes like Fiesta and Attrition.
As someone who mainly just plays BTB in waiting for some new maps now. I tend to play 3-4 times a week, just a couple of matches and I'm only halfway through the battle pass. Others of course blitzed it months ago and have everything unlocked already so are just bored and waiting for Season 2.
It'll get there, but right now it just needs more content.

"Different games have different needs. DL2 is unique due to density and verticality of its world, it streams more data than most open world games. Gotta admire how restrained that second tweet response is because the guy kicking off and having a go is in for a mountain of disappointment in the coming years about what his Series S is going to be putting out.

Record “revenue” from mtx. However given the low effort to produce the mtx garbage profits will be extremely high on the mtx side.Last edited by fishbowlhead; 07-02-2022, 06:40.

That isn't to say you turn around and give the developers both barrels on social media for being lazy. That's ridiculous...
At the very least they should give us toggle options for motion blur and head bobbing. Things which don't need much work to add into the mix. A FOV is always nice but if performance is already on the limit adding more into the frame isn't going to be nice.
On PS5 and Series X this can run at 60fps though so not sure why they're moaning there? There are some modes locked to 30fps but there is a 60fps option.

At least the film grain can be disabled. I think a good trade of would have been a reduction in graphic fidelity, but a 1440p @ 60fps performance mode.
I thought the days of 1080p were long gone for this gen, so this is a big disappointment. The 30 fps modes are a jankfest. The resolution mode looks great, but falls apart when you move. The 1080p / 30fps ray tracing mode looks and plays a right dogs ear, coming off the back of 60fps.
I know the series x isn’t a pc, but at minimum an FOV slider, MB on / off toggle and a higher resolution performance mode should be a given this gen.
