In fairness first party games like Flight Sim, Psychonauts 2, Forza Horizon 5 all released in very high quality... I don't think any studio really gets a pardon.

In the case of Halo Infinite we all know it's had a tumultuous road to release and they made the right call to delay it a year. I would say the campaign was great and the multiplayer is now really fun during Season 2. I'm still their biggest critic on content though, it is in dire need of some maps, forge... and of course co-op needs to hurry up.

Looking at them now delaying Redfall and Starfield I have a feeling MS is stepping in more but who knows what does on behind closed doors.

Redfall looked a bit early to show but to be honest it’s Arkane, so its going to of high quality.

It's not that we're giving them slack, it's that we fully know what to expect.

It'll never release without issues. Not even if you gave them an additional $1T to spend with an extra eight years. I'd bet my house on it releasing in a broken mess if I could.

I appreciate that they finally showed some endgame game play, however after the amount of time I spent on Diablo 3 I'm not too sure I'm looking forward to jumping back in any time soon.

I replayed the Switch version of 3, but that was only because I could play it at the same time as watching TV with my wife, or when I was waiting in the car for something/someone. Spending an additional four hours at my desk each day playing an RSI 'em up doesn't really get me excited.

I'll save my criticism for when the game is released and I've played it, rather than judge it on a single video still months away from release - it's fair to say that Fallout 76 didn't get any slack at all on this forum because it was a broken mess. Neither will Starfield if it's equally broken. Anything Todd Howard says should be taken with a pile of salt anyway, I'd rather not see him presenting stuff at all.

The Creation Engine is creaking at the seams, but the technical issues have largely been sorted out in Fallout 76 (still not really worth playing that game tho, but not because of CE) - if it turns out to be Fallout/Skyrim in space and the planets aren't just empty voids, from what was shown I'll be giving it a try when it drops.

Confirmed today... PC favourite Valheim isn't just coming to PC Game Pass as reported shortly after the show. It's now coming to both Consoles, PC/Cloud and will be a console launch exclusive on Xbox, early 2023.

I've never played this game but I remember it had a massive launch on PC. Is it worth a look on Console?

Nice! I played it a little and it was fun with friends.

No spaceship travel in Starfield, good job with that Bethesda.

They showed space combat is this just an upper atmosphere around the planet thing?

                        From the IGN interview
"People have asked, ‘Can you fly the ship straight down to the planet?’ No. We decided early in the project that the on-surface is one reality, and then when you’re in space it’s another reality."
"If you try to really spend a lot of time engineering the in-between, like that segue, you’re just spending a lot of time [on something] that’s really just not that important to the player," Howard reasoned. "So let’s make sure it’s awesome when you’re on the surface and awesome when you’re in space, and those realities look and play as good as they can be."
so no NMS style free flight from space to planet, no idea if this means no free air control planet side so you just selecting landing spots on map and the game takes your there. I'd be more concerned about latter than anything to do with the boring transition from space to planet, might as well be cutscene in NMS.

I don't think they showed any free roaming space travel, like no man's sky.
My gut says you'll have a star map which you select which planet you want to get to. And on the way it might trigger a space combat event.

I just assumed there's a transition from space to landing which to me is no real issue.

Not sure about the space travel part. They showed dogfights etc... but as Cassius says that might still be triggered somehow. They haven't really answered whether there's open flight but given the scale I'd assume not.

Watched the extended showcase stuff last night. I didn't like the format with interviewers asking leading questions and being very enthusiastic about every response... but...

I really appreciated a few of the games shown with deeper insights from the developers. Two games really sound like something I need to check out.

First was Naraka: Bladepoint ... It really sounds like a cool take on the battle royale genre and it's really soon. It also has a campaign and there's an Xbox One version in the works.

Next was High On Life. Those guys were just fun to listen to and they were very passionate about cramming adult humour into the title. It looks whacky and I'm loving the style of it.

Lastly they ended the show with the developers of Stalker 2 discussing the challenges they're facing and it was gut wrenching.

We talk a lot about game quality and delays, we often forget how amazing the developers are behind these titles and the lengths they're going to delivering them for us to enjoy. It's massively sobering.

I doubt there will be a huge difference given the quality of work the studios usually do but a tad naughty is it turns out:
