The Xbox showcase will be very interesting, they really cannot expect to ride yet another year out on Forza...? Can they?

*sweats* Hit 117,000 rewards points today *wipes brow*
The threshold for earning £100 in vouchers. That's since 21 December 2021 so 4 and a half months work. I reckon I could get that down to 4 months given the slow realisation I had on all the earning methods in the first month. If so that works out as almost a free Series S by the end of the year.

I'm more likely to keep saving toward the inevitable Series X2 though or one of those high refresh monitors

                  To paraphrase jurassic park:
So... There will be games for this console right? Hello, games?

... I really hate that man.

Series X consoles currently available in-stock (at time of writing this - I checked) from the House of Bezos.

Just saw digital Foundry and they were going on about xbox series consoles being unplayable for a few days. When did this happen? Was it limited to the UK or something?

It was related to secondary consoles and DRM checks if you have one console and one account most where unaffected for the most part as it doesn't require DRM to be checked constantly. Essentially they messed up their DRM servers and locked out all the secondary consoles people had for 4 days as they where failing the standard DRM check.

It's an issue as currently everything on the series x requires you to have a digital license to play it even disk based games, so say i had the Sonic generations xbox one disk and i wanted to play it on my series s and its my secondary console that was sharing my main account. i put the disk in and as its a series x console it checks the disk sees that its a BC game and rather than installing the xbox one version off the disk it installs the series x version from the digital store that's been enhanced for series x, in the above scenario with the drm fail you cant even play a disk based game you own.

It seemed to be mainly the US. People has issues with authentication for purchases and everyone (quite rightly) got annoyed over DRM.

That said, some people clearly hadn't set their consoles at their home consoles allowing offline play, and others though they had done that they hadn't opened some games on that console which registers it against that console ID in a first time pass which blocked it.

I didn't see any of this the whole time and I play across 2 consoles. If anything I think MS could look at better processes for authenticating digital purchases offline, better error messaging but I think this is the first time in 16 years I've seen such a large outage that wasn't attributed to malicious attacks (i.e. hacking)

Yep. Retro machines and PC for me. Yes they can put DRM on PC but I can get around it if they ever screw me over (gives EA the side eye - I still remember Dragon Age Origins).
