In some ways Awakens is a mixed bag. There were a coupke of moments when I wavered on the initial character model but I found the further away the camera got the more obvious it was a character model it became. The city and the freeway explosion looked insanely good. NPCs largely looked quite bad but purely in terms of what its intent is it was a success

Yeah there's some definite uncanny valley stuff going on and the more you start to interrogate your surroundings the more you realise the limits... but it's still amazing nonetheless.

Get that running at 60 and you have my vote. Cool tech demo and definitely nice to have released it for the public to play, no doubt its just a big metric collect a thon for the publisher but hey ho, can’t blame them.

They've thrown everything at it to show off. If they dug into both console hardware I bet they could get it to 60.
Haven't actually got round to trying it yet!

The character models gave it away but the world looked amazing. Its the first time I've been truly wowed this generation.

Graphically that is ridiculously good. But, it cemented my thoughts that better graphics aren't what I want. I want better games. That wasn't even a game of course but their idea of that being a game would be a **** game. I want better games. The exception to this, for me, is that I do want better graphics in VR, basically the 2D fidelity we currently have but in VR. It was impressive though when you consider that graphics that took thousands of hour to render for The Matrix movie can now be done on a home console. Incredible.

Is this in any way spoilery for the new movie?

Don't think so, it's a tech demo really.

Only in that it runs at 24 fps a lot of the time.

If that level of fidelity can be run at 60 fps then it's going to lead to some impressive looking games this gen.

Lets face it were only going to see that mid gen from top in house studio’s that really understand their respective hardware running stuff like that at 60, even then it will be on 1 hand the devs capable of it.

Maybe not given the whole idea of UE5 is to help streamline the graphics pipelining - UE5 is a middleware to abstract out the end platform.

You're only going to see games that look consistently mid-gen at 60fps... if you can get hold of and shell out almost £500 for PS5 Pro or Series Y
60fps all gen is the carrot to the gamers Donkey, it's a dream that needs to be let go

I use a vrr TV so the 24fps didn't bother me at all. If it wasn't even mentioned I probably wouldn't have noticed.
