Nintendo and Ubisoft have left it hella late, but a demo for Sparks of Hope is now available to download from the Switch eShop.

Metroid Prime Remastered sits at #2 in the UK software sales chart at present. Fourth biggest physical launch for the Metroid franchise in the UK with sales half of what the GC original were back when that launched.
Also, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe refuses to die, stuck at #5.

It fully deserves to sell well. I'm in constant astonishment at what I'm seeing on my screen, and in equal parts disappointed by what most of modern gaming has become. 21 year old game design...

Prime is a stone-cold Nintendo classic and I'm saying that as somebody who was never a fan of the original GC controls. It only really clicked for me with the New Play Control! edition/Prime Trilogy on Wii - giving Prime and Prime 2 the controls of Prime 3 was the right way to go IMO.

It’s safe to say that the pointer controls for this remaster are absolutely bang on (after a bit of tweaking, admittedly). I tried the classic controls with my son and there’s just no going back to that at all. That said it’s nice that it’s possible to give them a go, if purely out of curiosity/novelty/preservation.
You reminded me of the New Play Control! editions. Unfortunately Trilogy refuses to do RGB at 60Hz (3 works, 1 and 2 don’t), so I might see if those do. Doubt it like. Trilogy also omits the title screens and general presentation of the originals… not a fan of that at all!

Yeah, The poor presentation is probably the biggest downside of Prime Trilogy. I was also a little bit peeved that Europe didn't get the snazzy steelbook that North America got - NA copy of Prime Trilogy goes for silly money on the resell market now, even by current market standards.

I'm just going to assume that Microids are doing the general physical release of this just like they are with the 1st Remake.

Ah well. Trilogy is PAL optimised at least, so despite being 'only' 50Hz/50FPS it runs at full speed with 575i resolution, so I'm sacrificing 10FPS for an extra 95 pixels of vertical res. It's still butter smooth and feels like 100FPS when running through a CRT.
If I really want to opt for 480/60 I can still play the Gamecube versions. There's nothing wrong with the controls after all, the games still play great despite the superior pointer controls found elsewhere.
