I haven’t played any since Blue. Have been thinking it’s about time. Probably the most fun I’ve had with an RPG (if it counts).

When it comes to Pokemon, I don't mind them but they're the kind of game that slots into Nintendo's 'once per generation' cycle for me. Whichever one I play each gen is enjoyable but I then have absolutely zero need for another entry releasing. Fair play to Game Freak though, they all look archaic and the Switch can easily run better looking stuff but the franchises ability to print money has been nothing short of legendary so the schedule is king I guess

Pokemon fans will literally buy any Pokemon game no matter how badly they are made so gamefreak keep getting away with it time & time again. Not much incentive when they can shift millions of copies regardless, For once love to see Nintendo be allowed to take over to see how a Pokemon game would look in competent hands.

To me it's alwas surprising how hands-off Nintedo are to co-owned properties where the main developer is a third party or when they give their own property to another developer (see Princess Peach Showtime). You'd expect more support from Nintendo, but instead outside developers are pretty much left to their own devices, if not for QA. It's weird.

Purely speculation going round still but it seems increasingly likely that Thursday will be the day for it and that it's a Direct. It would kind of make sense, there's undoubtedly stuff coming that isn't cross-gen and it would be clearer to get the info out before the focus shifts to Switch 2 fully, like laying out the Switch 1 roadmap for much of the rest of the summer/year (especially as it'll likely be made up mostly of ports/remasters)
